My wife and I are staying at The Cliff Club at Snowbird for a ski week in early March. It will be our first trip to Utah. Any suggestions on what would be "must-do" activities? In Salt Lake City or the resort? Restaurants? Pointers to Newbie info?

Thanks! -Mike

What are your interests? Sports? Theater? Music? Art? You can find just about anything in SLC. Temple Square and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir are a big tourist draw. If you like to do genealogy--or just want to give it a try--the world's largest family history library is also across from Temple Square. The Delta Center where the Jazz play is within walking distance of Temple Square. Then there are the Olympic venues spread around the area. The torch and arch are located on 400 South (4th South) next to Rice-Eccles Stadium at the U of U. This is a short drive from downtown or you can take light rail (traxx). The skating oval is in Kearns, ski areas in Park City and up north towards the Ogden area. If you like living history, you can visit the "This is the Place" historical park. It is a replica of early pioneer settlement in SLC. www.thisistheplace.org

As for dining, what are your tastes? DH's favorite restaurant is El Chihuahua. He also likes the Bohemian Brewery. (check out the vespas upstairs.) I like Citrus Grill. We both love The Roof. Across the hall from The Roof is the Garden Restaurant. They are run by the same food service. Both have the best creme brulee I have ever tasted. If you do go to Temple Square, try to eat at The Roof (open evenings) or the Garden. They are in the Joseph Smith Building (formerly the Hotel Utah). There are many other wonderful places to eat.

Ditto to the previous post. I'm wondering if Rose Pink works for the Utah or Salt Lake tourism. ;) Just last week we ate for the first time at "The Garden". It was wonderful and the prices were only about half of those at "The Roof". The view was spectacular. Hope you enjoy your visit!

No, I don't work for the tourism board. (Do you think they'd give me a job? :D) I just like to eat out. You are correct re the pricing between the two restaurants. The food is the same but The Roof is more formal. It has a pianist and a dessert bar to die for. So, I just think of it this way: all the creme brulee I can eat for $24 (or whatever the price is these days).
