Hi all!
Looking for some advice/direction on whether I should pursue a unit at either of these properties? I can purchase a Platinum season 2 bedroom at the Cliff Club and the yearly fees (for now) are about $1500. Thats for a 2 bedroom. I am also going to look into Iron Blossom. What do you all think of these properties? Will primarily go for ski trips. I currently own 24k Worldmark which we use everywhere (WM/RCI/ii). Seems like the only way to get one of these properties through is to own there. Don’t see them pop up during ski season RCI or ii. Overall thoughts appreciated!

Do a search on Snowbird and older posts will come up. I know @ski_sierra and @Marathoner own a Cliff Club unit and have been helpful when I was looking at it.

There is not a lot of lodging in Cottonwood Canyons, so it's a very valuable timeshare if you want to experience the greatest snow on earth. Pretty much everyone agrees that Alta has the best snow in North America.

The Cliff Club has a rotating priority for requesting weeks. This is my limited experience in 3 years of ownership:
  • 1st priority: week seven or peak March weeks
  • 2nd priority: March weeks
  • 3rd priority: Jan/Feb weeks other than week 7
  • 4th priority: mid-Dec or mid-April
We have an April week off in the school calendar so that I can utilize either week seven or April for skiing.

CC also allows you to put your weeks in a rental pool, and I did that in the 2020 winter season. I had a December week as the previous owner had put it in the rental pool. I recovered most of the MF and kept in mind there was no skiing for the peak March weeks in 2020. So in a normal year, owners can make more than their maintenance dues. I guess that's one reason why owners have no incentive to deposit with II or RCI. I doubt if I will ever deposit my week to RCI or II. I think the Cliff Club system is fair and owner-friendly compared to the other mainstream timeshare companies.

Iron Blosam is a fixed week/fixed unit ownership. I have not stayed there. The location is not as good as Cliff Club but still very desirable.

I don't know how much the units are going for right now. I'd love to buy a week seven or another Cliff Club week with a different priority than mine so we could get week seven in alternate years. I like to get the Epic Pass on alternate years anyway, as my other ownerships are ideal for Epic Pass locations like Heavenly and Park City.

I see a bunch of rentals on Redweek for IBL and CC, so that's the other way you can stay there.

Stayed at Iron Blosam last ski season. Charming Older resort in one of the best ski areas in the world. It’s all about location with this property. Was to old and out of date for us to want to stay there again. But location is hard to beat. If you don’t mind a no frills basic/ older style accommodations with lots of charm. This is the place for you.

I would recommend staying there during ski season before you buy. Just to make sure it’s for you. You can usually grab an early season late season exchange in.

Whether you buy or not depends on your desire to ski at Snowbird regularly. If so, then a timeshare at Cliff Club or Iron Blosam are invaluable. If not, they are worthless because there is nothing else to do in the base area besides ski.

Cliff Club are 2BRs and have the Cliff Spa. It is the high end resort of Snowbird. Booking is on a rotation basis as described above. Iron Blosam is quite a bit older and requires a bit more work to walk to lifts at Wilbere and back. I love skiing at Snowbird so love staying at the Cliff Club so that I can ski some of the most challenging ski runs in North America. Iron Blosam is a satisfactory substitute for lodging because driving in and out of Little Cottonwood Canyon is so exhausting with the traffic.

The comments here are right on, both are great and worth owning. Cliff club is nicer.

Looking to buy couple platinum weeks at the cliff. Do you know what is the estimated price range for these?
Thanks!

Well after probably 20 years of ownership I have sold my unit at the Iron Blosam. I now have a bit of seller's remorse but did "OK" price wise. My reason for the sale were multiple but not the least of which was the elevated MF's which are now north of $100/day. I was also disappointed in the continual decrease in service and quality out of the Wild Flower Lounge over the years. It was once a great dinning option on the mountain to what now is basically a bad pizza joint. Having stated this, overall this is a great place and maybe with the "new" Wilbur lift it will be even nicer. It was a nice run at the Blosam and will probably someday rent out of the place again.
