I am looking at an auction on ebay. What snipe program can I use? I have never used one before but I have lost auctions because of it. Advice please.

esnipe ...

I have won auctions for less money by using this sniping program. Easy to use. Pay only if you win the auction.

Good Luck.

I also use esnipe.

eSnipe Dot Com.

Only 1 I am familiar with is eSnipe Dot Com, although I am positive there are others out there also.

Another vote for esnipe. Set the price you're willing to pay and don't peek until after the auction.

I've ALWAYS used auctionstealer.com. It's free to use but you get even better service (faster and closer to the end of the auction) when you pay. Either way, it works well.

You can always manually snipe too, if you are at the computer.

I've used auctionstealer.com (and done manual snipes), too. enipe.com looks pretty cool, especialy for relatively cheap auctions.

Another vote for esnipe. Works like it is supposed to.

Snipe for free

I use Hammer Snipe. It is free for up to three auctions a week. They also have a pay priority service that has some nice features, but the free version meets my needs. http://www.hammersnipe.com/

When I bid on ebay, I NEVER bid until the last few seconds and ALWAYS bid the max I would be willing to pay. If I don't win that's ok. If an auction on my watch list goes over the max, I don't bid. The more you research before you bid (price, seller, similar auctions, completed auctions) the better your chance for a good result. NEVER get into a bidding war. There will always be another auction. Before I learned these simple steps I often paid to much.

Thanks for all the help. I didn't win the auction-it went for higher than my highest bid. I'll try again, though!

Takes the emotion out,

a bid group allows you to snipe on several, cancelling subsequents bids of you win

The esnipe bid group option is a nice feature; has worked well for me.

The Minutes Are Ticking Down.

With 52 minutes to go, I have an eSnipe cushion of $73.53 over the current high bid showing for a semi-bent horn that I need like a moose needs a hat rack -- meaning it won't hurt my feelings any if I get outsniped, manually or via computer mox nix.

If I lose, I lose. Case closed.

If I win, I get the horn fixed up & semi-customized & see if I can make a little something by reselling it on eBay.

Or, if it's a great playing horn, maybe I'll keep it -- not that I'm counting on winning the eBay bidding, eSnipe notwithstanding.

Got Outsniped. ( So It Goes. )

I lost the bidding by one -- 1 -- eBay bid increment, which is OK by me.

At my price, I was willing to buy the horn.

At my price + 1¢ -- no way.

Got to draw the line somewhere.

I use bidnip.com

I think it's about 20-25¢ per winning snipe. Well worth it and dependable.

eSNIPE - the one and only !!!:cheer:

where's the fun in that?

Have any of you been to a real aution? How boring it would be if everyone used proxies...and who would take home the stuffed and poorly mounted Moosehead purchased on a whim?

Sadly, my Dear Sweet Bride won't let me attend those things anymore...

but that doesn't mean that if you would have bid $2.00 higher or so you would have won. The winning bid is always one bid increment higher then the second highest bid- unless they are both the same amount- in that case the bid first placed wins- however the winning bidder may have submitted a bid $200.00 or more higher than your highest bid but only the amount necessary to outbid the second highest bidder is used.

Snipe programs

I understand what you guys are saying, I just don't see the need for snipe programs. I've bought some of everything on Ebay and I have gotten into my share of bidding wars. I woke up one day and said "No More". Now I bid my max and check back when the auction is over. If I win, great! If not then maybe not so great. If I feel uneasy at anytime before the auction ends and I think that I wouldn't want to lose whatever because I was trying to be too cheap, I will increase my max bid to whatever amount I can stand not to lose. It's all about a comfort level. I see that these snipe bidders are not that expensive, but whatever monies I pay them I could add to my bid. I guess its a comfort level thing and I am not comfortable with robots bidding for me. To each his own.
