I have a reservation at a hotel in Boca Raton and Sky Auction is running an auction for the same exact hotel. I have never used Sky Auction, the dates we need are in the range of dates in the auction but how do I know they will actually be available? I tried to find a telephone number to call and get more info from Sky Auctions but they have none listed.

Any suggestions...isit worth bidding and taking a chance? Will they refund your money is the rooms are not available when you need it/

Thanks

I used Sky Auction once many years ago for a Caribbean vacation, and it worked out fine, although they did put me in an older section of the property. It works a lot like Priceline. They book the room and you get a non-refundable voucher for a Run of the House room, or whatever you pay for.

I've used SkyAuction twice. I booked a week through them at a resort for next summer. I paid through SkyAuction, received certificates, and also received confirmation via snail mail from the resort. I also contacted the resort by phone to make sure everything was arranged properly because this was the first time that I had used SkyAuction. They told me that they (the ranch) had sold several certificates to SkyAuction and had not encountered any problems from their end either. And, my winning bid was significantly lower than what I would have paid if I booked this vacation directly through the resort.

The second time that I used SkyAuction and won, the place that I had bid on was not able to give me the dates that I had requested. So I contacted SkyAuction via email and told them this, and they completely refunded my money. It wasn't easy to do this however, as I had to send several emails before getting a response. They were not denying me my refund, but they were dragging their feet. And I am not sure if SkyAuction made any attempt to contact the place to see if I did indeed try to make any arrangements or not--but I had kept my email correspondence with them just in case it was requested--it was not.

I do find it frustrating that you can not speak with anyone at SkyAuction on the phone. Any correspondence I had was done via email, and it always seemed to be with a different person each time. It took a while to get my refund, but I did get it.

So I have had both good and bad experiences with SkyAuction. The first experience was great. And the second probably would have went just as smoothly if the dates I wanted were available. Maybe you can try this suggestion...call the hotel in Boca Raton and tell them that you are thinking about bidding on some certificates from SkyAuction and ask if the dates you want are available. Maybe you might get lucky and be able to talk to someone like I did (at the ranch) that says "Oh yeah, we sold a lot of certificates to SkyAuction, and yes we do have those dates open." You just never know. It is only a phone call.

Good Luck!

If the dates you request are in the range and are then not available, you get your money back.
