I am thankful I did a lot of reading after my purchase and cancelled the day right after my purchase at the resort.

My purchase was for $14500 and I got the following which was supposedly the earliest of the early grandfathered package. The main sells manager I was very pleased with this man through the entire process even cancellation. Manager was HIGHLY professional. Now one of the sales reps that I dealt with when I cancelled I liked him except at the very end he was a tad unprofessional in saying. "I thought you were a man of your word."

Week 51 (Christmas) at the Flint TX resort I would never go bc im with family
Bonus time Sunday - Thursday free, but only three days weekends were $49.95 after three days checkout would be 7
RCI - Which honestly your trading power with what they have is kinda low in my opinion who would want to trade a vacation in Hawaii with one of their resorts.
RED WEEKS - Obviously the best perk but the fact of me using 3 days during the week and driving all that way just doesn't fit into my lifestyle. For those that don't know red weeks you can use bonus time anytime, but read bonus time above to see how this works.
only 7 of the resorts not the full 13

The one thing after going back on the deal that I found that I didn't like to hear in my research is the developer not allowing resells of the Endless Escape. I was told by the sales manager that if you buy this from another person when it changes ownership they strip that perk off the account. How is this legal? If you buy a grandfathered verizon/at&t account from another individual that has grandfathered unlimited data you get their account. I really think it is just outright bad to preach that your timeshare is going to increase in value and then do something like this only to have better odds at selling your developer shares.

I would be interested if anyone knows of a way or has had experience buying an endless escape silverleaf package from an individual and maybe got to keep the endless escape package. Endless Escape is an old bonus time type program that allows owners to stay at any Silverleaf resort for 6 nights free of charge if space was available.

Do other timeshares have something similar to endless escape. I think I would only be interested in something like this and would/could try to go on three vacations a year.

It is not just Endless Escape that does not transfer via resale, no bonus time transfers. At least it is not supposed to. Sometimes it has transferred but there is no guarantee; the SL line is that it doesn't.

EE is one of the greatest timeshare perks I have ever heard of. The first year I owned SL I spent 21 days of bonus time. But even Endless Escape (you can stay up to 6 nights for free based upon availability) doesn't make up for the thousands of dollars you will pay for buying direct from SL.

We loved our SL properties (especially Presidential units) but we no longer own them. We can rent (Extra Vacation and Last Call) Presidential weeks for about $350. At that rate, we could stay about 2.5 weeks for the price of one week's maintenance fee.

I agree with puppymommo, I live in TX and although there are a bunch of SLs near me, they are so available in RCI, and at cheap TPUs, there is no need to own there and pay their high MFs.

I usually book presidential units, as I know how to read the occupancy figures and can usually figure out the right unit to book.

Even If I only use 3 or 4 days, it was still cheaper.

They have high MFs. I understand that those programs don't transfer. Wyndham and other properties are the same way, they make the rules, they enforce the rules, I don't think there is anyway to get around it.

p.s. I have an unlimited data plan on Verizon, boy I never thought of selling it, have to consider that.

Glad I could help with the cellular knowledge thanks for the timeshare knowledge. I did cancel onsite and got a copy of the cancellation latter a lady that worked there signed it and attached her business card I am thinking of doubly cancelling though bc of how the packet states you MUST mail in this to said address by the 6th day afterward. I just don't want them to pull any shenanigans although the sales manager was one of the most professional sales representatives I have ever spoke with.

Thanks for the insight. From what I am reading if I purchased anything from any individual any longer that the bonus time doesn't transfer and you cannot tier up to diamond etc. You only get that week that you purchase at said resort.

btw - I would NOT sell your unlimited verizon data package you can't get it anymore and it is better than AT&T bc Verizon is not allowed to throttle you if you use a ton of data. The account will also only go up in price I think current resell is at $600 to $1000 per grandfathered account.

There is a huge difference in deeded rights and Developer perks.

Developers frequently refuse to honor their perks on resale to encourage buying from them.

Seldom, if ever makes sense to succumb.

Endless Escape

Well it sounds to me like the only way to get endless escape is to be added to ones deed that has one and never remove the original owner of the deeds name that is on the deed.

I wonder if there is a way to pay someone to be added to their deed and have them never use it but leave their name on it. Heck not sure what I am trying to say, but I would really like to have this developer perk.

:)

EE or other bonus does transfer if to a family member - sibling , parent or child otherwise sometimes the 3 day does sometimes it does not. Legally they can do that as owners signed a form saying bonus will not transfer if sold. Some of the oldest deeds supposedly did not have that disclosure but would still be iffy in getting it to transfer. Problem with leaving someone else on deed longterm would of course be the obvious. If you defaulted on dues silverleaf would be trying to get money from them, if you decided to sell then you would need their signatures , etc which could get messy if turned in to an estate situation, etc. At one time one could ad a name then take one off but I don't think that works anymore. There is a yahoo silverleaf group. At one time someone posted interest in adding someone as RTU - in exchange for that person paying half MF. You could check on there. RTU is right to Use - does not change deed. Some silverleaf staff say that form can no longer be used but others say it can.

Thanks for all the feedback

Based on what I am reading and researching on here I am not sure that I want to go with silverleaf at all.

I see timeshares in the Flordia Keys in the classifieds on here for cheap and I am assuming the maintenance fees are about $500 for the year??? Maybe I am misreading. Some people are practically giving away their timeshares in the classifieds because they can no longer use them.

When I first started reading on the forums and people were stating that the timeshares are currently a buyers market if my findings and interpretations are correct then that seems to be the case.

Max I could do two weeks of vacation a year somewhere ideally I would want it to be Key West in Florida for both weeks and hoping to spend under $1000 in maintenance with floating/red weeks in the summer. Maybe I am dreaming and misunderstanding the maintenance fees from the classifieds.

I do know that week 51 Christmas week in Flint, TX for 14,000 is a horribly bad deal and now that I am having a better understanding of RCI. NO ONE WOULD EVER WANT THAT WEEK!! Good thing I rescinded I am also going to submit the sample letter from the forums overnight certified mail tomorrow just to cover my basis.

Thanks for the advice on Endless Escape and the yahoo forum. I "may" buy someones deed that has an insanely old silverleaf deed and if a real estate lawyer was involved and knew for certain they could not touch the perks.

I would definitely rather own two weeks in Key West than anything Silverleaf currently has.

Silverleaf works for someone like myself who is retired , I live in Texas and can use the Galveston and Conroe timeshares freq, one year I kept track and used over 100 days bonus. The dues are to High for someone for using just the week. If you ever decide to buy for the same MF you can get a presidential , that seperates out to 2 deposits with RCI. For example my week 26 Galveston pres earns me about 50 TPU. In most cases I think one is better off to just have one timeshare , then use the RCI specials on last minute vacations , etc. Best of Luck in whatever decisions you make. There are lots of nice timeshares one can buy on Ebay for $1.

thanks jejones3329

jejones3329, you seem very knowledgeable. I am definitely going to do more research. I don't think Key West will be in the near future bc driving distance is just too far which I already knew this and plane flights are also too much. My girlfriend said her and her family the last couple of times they were in Galveston it was nasty there on the beach there was jellyfish and seaweed everywhere. As well as dead fish etc.

I want to go to Galveston to see how bad it is for myself although im scared of getting stung by a jellyfish for sure.

:)

How to transfer timeshare

I have a guy I am looking to buy a timeshare from it is a silverleaf timeshare. He stated silverleaf gave him a packet etc.

How difficult is it to transfer a timeshare particularly a silverleaf timeshare.

Also I called a title company they stated they didn't deal with this kind of stuff.

Thanks to anyone who can help here.

cool thanks

just called unfortunately they stated silverleaf is the only company that will not allow an outside title company to handle their transfers.

:)

This is going to be interesting they did help with the knowledge of learning about an estoppel letters and what not. After calling them I called silverleaf. I guess owner needs to send an estoppel letter to silverleaf for them to fill in the blanks maybe a sample one online.

Does anyone know where an estoppel letter online is located?

As someone stated I am posting here to consolidate

First I want to apologize to users for asking so many Silverleaf questions in different threads

Has anyone dealt with a silverleaf resell?

I know they send a packet.

I was wondering if that packet contained an estoppel letter provided by them.

The basic process as I remember is the seller notifies silverleaf , silverleaf sends them a letter of intent form, on that form the seller will put name of buyer , relationship of buyer to him, addresses, etc. that form is sent in with $250 . Then silverleaf sends buyer and seller more forms to fill out. When those are done - a new deed and new bonus time disclosure forms are processed and buyer gets sent a copy.

Be sure you know what you are buying as far as whether a get away resort or a destination and whether red, white or blue as makes a lot of difference on usage esp if bonus time transfers.

At the risk of sounded very stupid, how would I find out if my Endless Escape is transferable? I bought in phase 1 of Fox River in 1998 so I'm hoping I can use that as a selling point.

As stated above by Judy, EE will only transfer to a Family Member. Anything else is iffy and you never know nothing is guaranteed.
