Any comments, good or bad, about this resort? The website says there are two different 2 bedroom villas, a 2 bedroom lock-off (1005-1225 sq. ft.), or a 2bedroom unit (1423-1470ft.) Does anyone know which are old or new?

Had A Nice Time There In January 2007.

We snagged a nice Last Call reservation for our after-Christmas Florida vacation in January 2007 at Silver Lake Resort Silver Points -- had a nice time.

Details are in the TUG Resort Reviews section -- although I notice I goofed up & said in the review that we were there in January 2006, even though it was really January 2007. (I notified the TUG Resort Reviews Coordinator in case there's an opportunity to fix the date.)

I am far from a Silver Lake expert, but I believe that the old sections are buildings 100-700 and buildings 1700+1800. If that is true then you should be in a newer building either way.

My family and I stayed at SL a couple months ago. In my opinion, the best things about the resort were the pools and the close proximity to WDW. We stayed in the 1800 building (older), which we felt was spacious (2 bedroom dedicated) but in dire need of refurbishment. There are no restaurants, but it is close to Irlo Bronson Hwy. Other than the pools, there is not much to do there.

As I said, our unit was not all that great, but in fairness I understand that the newer units at SL are quite nice (based only on what I've read from others). In the end, I probably would not stay there again unless I got a newer unit.

Good luck with your trip.

We traded into a couple of two bed units for a trip last year and really liked the resort. The units were so big. These were not lock offs. Everything you could need was in our rooms. The road behind the resort leads to the Disney Hwy. We rented cars, so restaraunts and grocery stores were very easy to find. The pool is hugh and had live entertainment and a pool bar. The beds were so comfortable that my wife called to ask what thay are. Our units seemed some what refurbished and were in the older section.

Is this resort near the WDW park entrance?

The road behind the resort takes you to Animal Kingdom which is on the same hwy as most Disney attractions. Its very easy to get to all the parks from Silver Lake Resort if you have a car.

Thanks, I will check this resort out hopefully in the next 3 weeks.
I am looking for sun, it is cold in VA.

We were there several years ago and they had a wo;nderful activity programme, much more extensive than most other resorts. For example, they had a Hawaiin luau (sp?), a wild animal show, great contests, etc. Does anyone know if they still have such a great offering of special activities?
