My husband and I have owned a 3 BR lockout at Silver Lake Resort in FL. since 1994. We always paid our maintenance fees until he died 2 years ago and I can no longer pay them. I tried to get a deedback, but the resort wants maintenance fees paid plus $3500. to close the deedback. What can I do ?

Just don't pay and eventually they'll foreclose.

Do you have any children or other relatives that might want to take over the account?

Have you tried listing it with any of the reputable timeshare selling companies?

Is this deeded as a week, or are you in the points system now? You can also try renting your points until you are able to find a seller. Be careful as there will be less value when selling if there aren't any points available to use. I wish you luck in finding someone in the market that might be able to help you!

likely zero value in a silver lake regular week, not to mention one years in default. heck they cant even use it if shes in arrears much less rent it out.

id respond to their request informing them that your husband has passed on and that you are not in any financial condition to pay the back fees but you are willing to surrender it back to them for free.

Maybe someone will weigh in but if you live in Florida, Florida doesn't have an anti-deficiency law in effect to protect you against foreclosure which could mean through judgement you would owe everything you owe plus the collection efforts and court costs. Check to see if your state has an anti-deficiency law before you decide to walk away. You can easily Google it.

Florida provides non judicial foreclosure for timeshares, and they dont allow judgements in those situations as long as the owner doesnt dispute the foreclosure.
