There's been a settlement in a class-action suit against the large chicken processors. Basically, if you purchased chicken from a grocery store anytime in the past decade, you may be eligible for what I am SUUUURE will be BIG $$$ (or, you know, at least as much as it will cost them to send it to you.)

Here's the link to file your claim:

I picked it off of a WGN news story, so pretty sure that it's safe and legit.

Be sure not to spend it all in one place, my TUG friends!

You mean it may be worth "chicken feed"?

I stopped answering requests for class action cases. Somehow I never have seen a penny of what they’ve said I’m owed. I don’t know where the money goes, but it hasn’t been to me.

They have around $140,000,000 set aside, you figure there will probably be over 140000000 people who will claim it, so you will get less than $1 even if you paid hundreds of dollars in the "scam".

One might get a $0.75 cent coupon off of their next chicken purchase...

Of course, if everyone else thinks it is a waste of time, and I am the only one to file a claim, I could come out a multi millionaire...

"Claim forms must be submitted by Dec. 31, 2022."

Nothing will be seen for years, if at all.

Nah. The lawyers will still take 99+% of all the money.

So in the end, if the settlement comes out to about $1 per person, does that mean each person overpaid about $1 in a decade for chicken? Hardly seems worth of a lawsuit.

It may not be worth it to people like you and I. But, it's definitely worth it to the lawyers filing the suit. They will make a pretty penny. They wouldn't file it otherwise.

As a result do people end up paying more for their chicken going forward that pays for the settlement and lawyers fees?

No, we were already overpaying. And the current admin is already looking critically at the consolidation of the meat packing industry in America

There are 2 class action lawsuits that I filed for that had some sort of decent payout..

1 - Justice - There was a misleading advertising class action lawsuit. If you had tweens and shopped there, you know that the regular price was ALWAYS 40% off the price tag. When they had a real sale, they prices were even lower. We spent thousands there over the course of 5 - 6 years buying our twin girls clothing. It was our go to store for everything from jeans to bathing suits. I sent copies of all our credit card bills with the charges. We ended up with a cash payment of around $140.

2 - Kincaid Furniture - A somewhat high end furniture brand. Our furniture is supposed to be solid cherrywood, but they used a veener (I think it was sold wood (Cherry?) with a cherry veener. It was great furniture anyway. We eventually got a choice of buying a clock that matched the set for $49 instead of the $399 it regularly cost or some other sort of discount on their furniture. I did not do either.

I think both cases were BS.

I actually got a WIN from a class-action lawsuit. In Chicago, truckers who picked up/delivered to the rail yards were required to submit a fingerprint both to sign up AND every time they entered. There were security issues with that. Well, the lawsuit was won in favor of the drivers. My payout? $700! So, sometimes a class-action lawsuit works in our favor.

I got about $140 split over 2 payments from the Class Action against ARCO.
