We’ll be at the World staying at the Beach Club for 5 nights the second week in Sept, with a single night preceding the BC stay at OKW. (The single night is so that we can avail ourselves of a full day of free waterpark on BC check in day.).

Food and Wine and Halloween festivities will be going on. We’re looking forward to anything that happens at night because it will be hot. We have APs so don’t need to maximize park time. Because we’re staying at BC we’ll probably focus on Epcot and HS but have no elaborate plans.

Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween party is taking place during that time period and we’re trying to decide if it’s worth it to us. We like Halloween decorations and vibe. We like cool fireworks shows with projections. We think the parade sounds cool. We aren’t big costume people, we’re not children so trick or treating isn’t a big draw.

We are not averse to spending the $ for this event but don’t want to just throw money around.

My sense is this trip is going to be mostly sleeping in or brief rope drop in Epcot or HS to hit a few rides. Then pool day at Stormalong bay lunch in the condo, and then something in the evening. The free extended evening hours for sure, Epcot food and wine.

If we did the Halloween party, we’d have two nights of inconvenient “schlepping” from BC to MK. Is the party maybe best reserved for another trip when we’re staying in the MK resort area?

Highly recommend attending especially that you won’t be in the parks @ rope drop. The unique opportunities (villains, we got pics w/ all 7 dwarfs/sleeping beauty) are worth the xtra money. The gravediggers & headless horseman were great during the parade. We attended before the prices went sky high, but still would attend if in the area. You’ll be there during one of our favorite times of the year...enjoy!!

The Halloween party is a lot of fun, and I attended once on my own as an adult. One surprising thing that entertained me was seeing the other guests' costumes. Some people spend a lot of time and money putting them together!

Keep in mind that the party starts around 7 pm, but you can get in with a party ticket starting around 4 pm (check online to confirm the exact times).

Getting in early is a non issue as we have APs!

I love that parade, in particular seeing the Headless Horseman on his beautiful black horse and hearing the catchy song! And DH and I have used the party to ride our favorites without long lines. We're not into trick or treating or into character M&Gs either, but we like seeing the special photos from the party (at the time, PhotoPass came with our APs, now it's an extra $99 for the year).

As a WDW Cast Member, I wasn't able to go to the Halloween nights due to schedule, but the Halloween fireworks are bigger than "Happily Ever After"! I don't mean size, I mean WDW shuts down World Drive past Contemporary Resort because they fire from more real estate. So, instead of just seeing them behind Cinderella's Castle, they extend farther out. Similar to HEA, WDW puts scenes from their Halloween movies on the castle. Even the bus music changes!

MNSSHP is the best Disney after-hours event, hands down. Parade is incredible, party overall is just a lot of fun. I would absolutely do it.

Also, I don’t like giving this secret up because I’m afraid if too many people know it it will no longer work, but for whatever reason, the best place to watch the parade is by the entrance to the park. You go the hub, or Frontierland, or Main Street, and you’ll be mobbed in a sea of bodies. Right at the entrance though? In my experience it’s practically a ghost town. No idea why this is.

Go for it!! As others said, the headless horseman is so worth it. DH and I did it many years ago when it was reasonably priced and had such a blast. I did it with DD a few years ago….still so much fun….we did simple costumes but it was so hot. I gave my handmade hat away to a cast member who was thrilled (I was Mrs. Dreamfinder… my own made up character…wife of Figments “dad” and cut off the sleeves of the jacket I made). DD said the cast member and her roommates would use the hat for a drinking game back at their housing.
Not too much schlepping to get to MK..just take the bus (early)….I personally hate the bus ( no offense @simpsontruckdriver ) because it sometimes shares with Boardwalk and that makes for a much longer ride). And taking the bus back will be easier as there won’t be giant crowds like usual park closing.
Will be there in September too after a cruise. Making up for lost time after having to cancel our May trip. DH is making a great recovery .

If you're staying at BW, Magic Kingdom's bus goes only there, but AK and DS go to Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Boardwalk. EPCOT and Hollywood Studios only send buses there if the SkyLiner goes down (YBCBW). The #1 way to beat the crowds for buses at MK is to leave before fireworks, or stay until just past closing. So, if MK closes at 10pm, don't leave then, hang around a little bit. At closing, stores/restaurants/rides stop accepting new guests, but if you're inside, you won't be kicked out. That is the same at all theme parks.

I am planning to go to MNSSHP for the first time in September and we are very excited about it. This particular trip we are actually doing all 4 Universal parks- so we were going to skip Disney completely but decided to add on the one night for the Halloween Party.

If you have the cash, go to the party. It's fun and lines are short, even for Seven Dwarfs and Peter Pan. Literally walk on for Peter Pan. I tried to get our kids to get into some lines, rather than watch the cavalcades. I didn't get the cavalcades and never get the parades. Now fireworks, those are amazing.

I'll say this, the after hours events at Disney are AMAZING. We did Epcot, Hollywood, and Typhoon Lagoon this past month and my gosh... What an incredible experience, especially at Epcot. Worth every penny.
