Should the US have dropped the atomic bomb on Japan

Bomb?

Seems to be a debate on the 70th anniversary. What do you think?

It is way too easy to say in hindsight decades later that the US should not have done this to end the war. If we had invaded Japan I would not be married to my wife of 41 years tomorrow because her Dad would have been killed along with at least a million other military heroes. I would not have three great kids and three (and counting) grandchildren.

My question would instead be, Why did the Japanese not surrender after the first bomb?
