Should I Deposit Expiring Points in RCI or Forfeit

I have 47,000 Wyndham points remaining (will expire 12/31/10). My resort is Las Vegas Grand Desert. I am trying to decide if i should spend $122 to deposit in RCI. ( I don't have any housekeeping credits or reservation credits remaining so I have to pay $59 to make reservation on the phone plus pay for the housekeeping credits.) I have no experience with RCI so I don't know if I will be able to trade for anything that I would want to use. I have 126,000 points that i bought a few years ago from eBay.

Just so you know, if you deposit via online, it is only $30. All you have to do is login, under membership tab click the rci link, then select 42,000 and select deposit.

If you are willing to travel off-season, and trade back into a wyndham you can get some great trades for your 42k, especially in florida for example.

I believe that I have to call Wyndham (and pay $59) to deposit because I need to purchase housekeeping credits. I was thinking that one of my daughters might use the week but I learned that I would have to pay RCI $59 fee for a guest certficate. So my costs would be $122 + $194+$59 for a total of $375. I am thinking that I just might just let the points expire.

This is one VIP perk I still have and like and that is unlimited housekeeping credits. I was about to say just deposit it in RCI as it will cost nothing, but I always forget my free housekeeping and transactions so it does not cost me anything to deposit.

I still have the confirmation fees and guest fees in RCI should I book something, but I don't have to cost to get it into RCI.

I would deposit it, I think you could get a nice week for your daughter for that price.

el cid resorts(mazatlan, cancun, cozumel) was running a promotion through RCI that reimbursed your exchange fee with hotel dollars. in the next 2 years who knows what you might get for it, and if you never exchange it your only out $120., and if your wrong about the $59, only ~$90
