We're going to Germany and Austria for 3 weeks this summer. I have usually found good prices for renting on Kayak, autoeurope or economycarrentals. This year airfare and car rental are way up.

I've read where a short term lease is a way around the higher costs.

Has anyone had a short term lease? What what are the pros and cons? Was it cost effective?

If anyone has had experience with other rental companies that I should try, please tell me.

We're landing in Frankfurt. Our itinerary is Frankfurt, Dresden, little town called Seyda 80 km south of Berlin, Nuremberg, Bad Gastein, Austria, then to Koblenz Germany, and back to the Frankfurt airport.
