So…the Sheraton Waikiki is a nice beachfront hotel with an amazing pool that I wouldn’t stay in unless the Royal Hawaiian and Moana Surfrider were prohibitively priced.
That said (and despite the name) the Marriott Waikiki Beach is not actually on Waikiki Beach. So if your choice is between the two, the Sheraton by a mile.
The Marriott Waikiki is now part of the vacation club city collection. We booked a night there using club points for the night before our early flight home. Don’t know anything about it but it will work for our needs. We have stayed at the Sheraton hotel in the past using hotel points for this same reason and it was fine. Just FYI

There is a brand new Marriott Vacation Club property in Waikiki which seems to be the one you’re talking about. Call it MVC Waikiki. It’s a completely different property than the Marriott Waikiki Beach, which is at the other end of Waikiki and is a hotel.
Both of the properties the OP asked about are hotels, not timeshares. The new MVC Waikiki is a timeshare, albeit not a traditional one since you can only book it with Abound points or cash and you can’t buy an ownership there.
