I got a sales promo for staying at the Sheraton Vistana resort in Orlando. four nights in a one bedroom unit for $299. and double the rate for a two bedroom until. 5000 starpoints or $100 gift certificate for Planet Hollywood (no expiration date, can be used in a Planet Hollywood location in USA).
The problem is the expiration date - for end of June 2015. I travel frequently, and I have sort of already planned my holidays through to that time.
So, I asked the call centre representative if I could extend it the eligible period for the stay through to Dec 31, 2015. He said he could not do so, even after claiming to have spoken to his supervisor.
What do you think of the promo?
What do you think of their turndown of my request for an extension of the 1 year period for stay?
Of note, I own a 4 bedroom unit at Westgate Lakes in Orlando, a one week at the Ko Olina (Marriott) Beach Club in Oahu, and some points in the Diamond Resorts International system.
A lot of my holiday plans have been taken up via these timeshares (and exchanges).
I do not really need the promo, but I say why not? But it is more appealing if the agent can extend the promo. I know for some other timeshare promos (eg Marriott, Hilton), there was no problems by the developer extending the deadline - for obvious reasons. They wanted us to go there, and potentially buy into their timeshare. At least on the surface, that does not seem to be the case with this promotion.
