Hello, I was wondering if this is a nice place to visit first of all and if it ends up not having any powder for the season is there still things to do? Ideally I would like to snowboard - how far is the closest resort? Is it walking or is it a close drive? Also If i get a rental car will i need chains? (would be arriving in Denver) etc?

I have never done a winter ish trip to a resort before so I kind of would love some tips and tricks in April 2023 to Sheraton Mountain Vista.

Cheers.

Spring skiing in Colorado will not normally be powder as it is not cold enough. The Sheraton Mountain Vista is right in the town at the base of Beaver Creek. If the mountain is still open for skiing, you can walk from the Sheraton over to the Westin and take the gondola there to Beaver Creek. There is a FB group that you might want to join that has good info on Beaver Creek... Beaver Creek Mountain -

Thanks. Wasn't sure how the weather would be. Would you know if there is anything else to do in the area if the powder isnt there? Or should I try my luck somewhere else?

Unfortunately, April is the leading edge of mud-season where mountain trails are muddy and skiing can be sparse. Try Arapaho Basin as it is up on Loveland Pass which would be about a 30-45 minute drive for you buy likely better snow. They often stay open until 4th of July.

Beaver Creek is slated to close April 16 and Vail April 23. So far, the snowpack is good this year, so if you’re come before those dates, skiing should be fine at those resorts. After that it’s Breckenridge or Arapaho Basin. Given April is one of the snowier months, you could get just about any condition from powder to slush to ice, but I personally love spring skiing. I’m personally on my 5th trip to the Beav this year (at SMV this time), and will be back again at Riverfront the first weekend of April.
