Sheraton Broadway Plantation: Why so many for sale?

I am a recent (and first time) purchaser of a TS in Myrtle Beach and I am on the market for another. I keep noticing Sheraton Broadway Plantation TSs for share and some are even giving them away. I visited there and it is a beautiful resort.

I am hesitating this purchase as too many for sale can't be good news.

Does anyone have any insight?

Thanks...
Joe

Their MFs are quite high IMO. I've stayed there and it is very nice and a good central MB location. The MFs keep me from buying, especially when I can usually trade in.

Starwood recently changed the way trades are handled with Interval and did it in a way that violates owners deeded rights. This affected most Starwood resorts, including SBP. Add to this maintenance fees went up over 20% this year and you get many owners looking to get out. And with good reason. Starwood has become the worst management company out there.

Thank you. Very valuable information.

Funny you should mention Westgate in your post. I just came back from the Westgate resort in Myrtle Beach. I picked up a week's stay from hotwire.com and it ended up being the Westgate for $390 for the week, tax in.

To get to our "villa", which couldn't have been bigger than 300 sq ft., we had to walk through the timeshare gauntlet. There was a series of photos of the Westgate owner posing with various luminaries. There were all kinds of positive testimonials posted. Top seller, yadda, yadda...

Nice place, employees seemed to have smiles permanently plastered on their faces.

One of them came up to me and asked if I was interested in a free dinner.

I quickly answered, "Now why would I buy a timeshare from you when I could get one on ebay for $1?"

Can you write a review on your stay @ Westgate Myrtle Beach, your review would the first review of this resort?

Thanks in advance

strandlover, did you have a chance to see the various units at Sheraton Broadway Plantation, old and new buildings? and if so, what did you think?

I am going to move this thread to the Starwood board where there may be owners who can answer your questions.

Do I write a review in this thread? (newbie here, sorry)

Hi,

Welcome to TUG, and thanks for being willing to write a review! Here is a link to the review page:

http://tug2.com/RnR/RateAndReviewResort.aspx

You can give the resort a rating, and then write your review of your stay. If you have additional questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Steve

Does one have to be a member to write a review? I see the new poster is showing as guest.

Guests cannot log into the members only reviews, so no, they can't write a review there - but they are welcome to write a review and post it in the appropriate forum.

Another reason so many are for sale is that people bought them who may not be able to afford them. They are trying to get rid of them so as not to pay the MFs or, maybe, the mortgage on them.
