Marriott Grand Chateau
A family member is getting married in Durham, NC in mid-late April. We only learned about this a few months ago, but it's a long flight for us (from California), so we decided to take a vacation afterwards.
It was too late in the game to see any availability at Marriott OceanWatch. But I did find a larger 1BR at Sheraton Broadway Plantation. Earlier today, I was able to ePlus that to a 2BR at Sheraton Broadway Plantation for the same week. (As an aside: the initial confirmation cert. for the 1BR had a 6-digit confirmation number. But today's confirmation cert. has an 8-digit number that looks like a Marriott number.)
I found the following in a TUG thread:
Per the description on Vistana – they have a Palmetto section and a Plantation section:
2 BR lock off Palmetto 1595 sq ft
2 BR lock off Plantation 1335 sq ft
2 BR dedicated Palmetto 1215 sq ft
2 BR dedicated Plantation 1030 sq ft
And from another thread:
- Definitely ask for an upper floor unit because they are just nicer. I don't know why.
- ask for a top floor. They have vaulted ceilings and skylights. Very nice.
And from a sticky in the Vistana Forum (https://tugbbs.com/forums/threads/sheraton-broadway-plantation-check-in-days.102694/#post-760913):
CHECK-IN BUILDINGS FOR PLANTATION PHASE:
FRI: Buildings - 14 15 16
SAT: Buildings - 1 2 7 8 12 13 17
SUN: Buildings - 3 4 9 10 11
CHECK-IN BUILDINGS FOR PALMETTO PHASE:
FRI: Buildings - 19 20
SAT: Buildings - 18
SUN: Buildings - 26

I'm trying to figure out if the confirmation clues me in about which section we'd be assigned to (Plantation vs. Palmetto). At Interval, it shows TOVI (2Bedrooms) in our Exchange History. We have a 1 week stay with a SUNDAY check-in (the wedding is Saturday). Can anyone tell me where that is and what type of unit this is?
So: what should I do about a room request? My wife is a very light sleeper, so we like solitude and quiet. We always do ask for a top floor if possible. And we try to avoid areas that are noisier, so we usually ask to be placed AWAY from pool areas and common areas where there might be more noise and away from city streets that might have more traffic noise.
Thanks.
