I am revisiting the idea of purchasing SVC points.

Has anyone had success at using their SVC points to trade into Little Sweden in Door County during their high demand times of May-Sept? If there is a fair share of availability, I wouldn't mind the higher mf cost of these points.

Also, which club does this resort belong to?

If you also know an avenue in which to purchase a fixed week, I would inclined to pursue that route, as well. Those weeks just do not seem to appear on ebay, craigslist, etc, so I don't think I am looking in the right places.

Little Sweden is now in the Shell Owners Club – Americana. It previously was in Shell Southwest.

Shell Owners Club – Americana includes the 3 AZ resorts plus the single resorts in NH, TX, and WI.

Have not tried trading there, so cannot advise you regarding that.

Has this change from the Southwest Club to Americana been recent? To make an exchange within the club, do you have access to an online system? Or is this a "call your rep" transaction?

Shell Owners Club – Americana was created in late Jan./early Feb. 2010 by merging Shell Southwest (AZ, TX & WI) with Shell East (NH).

Reservations within Shell can be made either online (www.shellvacationsclub.com) or via an 800#.

Hope this helps!

It does help! Do you enjoy using their points system? And have you exchanged mostly within the SVC resorts? I read in the "sticky" portion of the forum that exchanges within the club or system do not incur extra expenses(that is, they are incorporated within the mf). Is that still correct?

Yes, we are enjoying our Shell points quite a lot. So far our use has only been within the Shell system.

There are no extra fees for at least the first one or two reservations per year within the Shell resorts (depending on how many points you own), so it really is not critical to own in any specific Shell Owners Club - the only advantage is that a club owner can make a reservation for the resorts within their respective club a few months earlier than someone who owns points in another Shell Owners Club.

Our decision to buy Shell points has been good so far! :D

Little Sweden was wonderfull

About 3 years ago I used some of my Shell points to trade into Little Sweden from Monday to Friday morning during Labor Day week in September. (I own at Carriage Hills and Carriage Ridge resorts in Canada). The resort was wonderful!!!!!. In fact I would put it among the top trades I have had for peace and relaxation. (except the Shell properties in Hawaii).

If you go for a 2 bedroom deluxe unit, you actually get a semi detacted house with a garage and a large screened in porch. All the rooms are quite large.

There are not a lot of planned activities, but there are both indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs. There is a par 3 golf course which is free. Door County is a lovely area with lots to see and do.

I don't know how SVC works, but was the unit just out there, waiting for you to choose? Or did you put in a request with SVC?

We're very pleased with our SVC West. We've traded through RCI as well as within Shell, plus doing some of the internal things with the points. The versatility was the appeal for us. We own weeks at our other resorts because we return there pretty much annually.

One benefit to owning the Americana points would be the 12 month reservation window for all those resorts. It's 9 months if you have points in any of the other Shell clubs.
