Quick question for anyone who stayed at Shawnee Village..what is it like staying there? I have a reservation for early November. The reviews haven't been good, unless it's at Crestview. Does anyone know how you are able to get into Crestview is it a request?

Thanks for the info!!

Crestview must be booked. The River Village ones, I do not care for, but I understand some of them may have been renovated. They tend to be down towards the River. I like Ridge Top and Ridge Top Summit. Most of the units are duplex like cabins and are very nice. Check you reservation, it should show you where you are staying. This is a rural area. There are a couple of casinos within driving distance. Crestview is a apartment type structure.

My order of preference from those I have stayed in is as follows:
Crestview - newer and nicer furnishings.
Ridge Top Summit (2 bedroom Deluxe units) - a bit nicer than the ordinary Ridge Top units. If I am remembering correctly, there is a jacuzzi tub in them.
Ridge Top - a plus from these is that some still have real wood fireplaces, but I think they are switching them out.
Depuy - Renovated units are not bad - the shower water pressure is great. I have not seen the units that aren't renovated, but the renovated ones are fine. The kitchen has a LOT of space, which is nice.

The Ridge Top and Depuy are older units, so there tends to be older decor, etc. They suffice, though, and are really more "in the woods" than the Crestview units. The bathrooms are kind of small. If you go in knowing you are getting an older unit, it is easier to be satisfied. If you are expecting Bonnet Creek style furnishings, you will be disappointed in any but Crestview.

I haven't stayed at Fairway or River Village, but I don't think I will based on reviews and just driving by those to see what they are like from the outside.

Each section is booked separately, almost like a seperate timeshare. Crestview was very nice, but RIDGE TOP was beyond disgusting.

If your purpose is to 'do the Poconos' with active days away from the resort ... you will be fine.

This resort has an INDOOR pool ... 6 lap lanes and BIG. The activities remind me of the movie "Dirty Dancing" with Bingo, free movies, campfires with marshmellows, free shuttle van between the 'villages' and the LARGE activities center .... with BIG INDOOR pool ... diving and laps. The pool opens as early as 7AM for lap swimming and closes around 11PM.

To the OP, did you submit a review of your November 2018 stay?

I apologize. Clearly I'm still learning the protocols for spinning off
a private conversation from a public one. I have just re-read the
Rules page (link below, and of course at the top of every page).

We haven't stayed yet at the Poconos resorts, but have been planning to do so in the near future -- so this is all very good advice. Thanks!

We stayed in Ridge Top a couple months back now. VERY DATED units. We attended our first owners update there and they actually did NOT try to sell us anything. I later found out that's because we were still in the 90 day window of our initial contract purchase, and therefore it would have been pointless to attempt to sell me anything else.

I would recommend you try and stay in the Crestview units if unit quality is important to you. I loosely understand that Wyndham does have plans to renovate the older units over time, but have no details on timing or plans. As someone else said, if you aren't planning to spend much time in the older units, and are simply using then as a launchpad for local site seeing, then they will work just fine. That was what we did, and I would do so again if I had to, but would certainly prefer Crestview units whenever possible.

So, any changes for the better or worse since 2018 at Shawnee on the river etc?
