Does anyone use SFX? Do you get good exchanges here? How does SFX work? Is it request only?

There have been a lot of threads on this but it's a difficult search on TUG since "SFX" is only three letters. There are some SFX lovers, some SFX haters, and some in the middle.

I have used them sporadically and eventually have always been able to find good exchanges but of all of the exchange companies it is the most difficult for *me* to use. I like to search online and I'll do at least a few searches on RCI and II every day. No such luck with SFX. I have to call in and play phone tag with someone. I use SFX to target HGVC properties on the Big Island and for that it has worked for me. I have tried putting in an ongoing search and that has been disappointing. Calling in usually yields good results but it is very inconvenient and time consuming. I really think that they would be a very viable option if that had an ability to do an online search.

I don't like SFX at all. Now that Vidanta is adding fees to even SFX exchanges that match RCI's, it's not even a bargain to get those anymore.

I used to use SFX regularly. But I always had to call in. I had an agent I worked with (Nathan Reynolds) who was great at his work. Then he was promoted to a Supervisory role, and I haven't had a successful exchange since. The person who took over his old position said a lot of nice things, but produced zero results. The last communication I had with her was an offer for an exchange that didn't match the dates or unit size I needed, and it was a request from about two years prior. I had already made other arrangements.

SFX does work, if you can get the exchange you want.

Go to google.com. Type in SFX and tugbbs.

I will probably use them someday to travel to Mexico, but I may not make a deposit until I find what I want to trade for. They appear solid to me if you want to travel to San Francisco, Mexico, and to a slightly lesser extent Hawaii AND you are okay talking to a person instead of doing online exchanges. It strikes me as a boutique type set up.

Boutique is a sweet word for them.

They have their favorite deposits that they will bend over backwards to make sure those deposits get great exchanges. Those same deposits will be phenomenal weeks in II. Hilton weeks have some clout with SFX. I think it's worthwhile for Hilton owners to use SFX.

Hilton is with RCI, mostly, and I don't have a lot of love for RCI. Now that Disney moved to II, I am unsure what I will get with RCI that is an even exchange for what I own. I have to work on some east coast exchanges and maybe some Florida coastal weeks to use up my RCI trading power. I do love to trade back into our home resort for ski (summer for ski at the same resort is only +1-4 TPU's.

They did? what are the Vidanta fees now. I did not know they jacked up the fees, last I heard it was still $75

I paid $299 to upgrade to SFX Diamond member. Was told it will be lower fee if I want go to Hawaii. After put in OGS, nothing ever came through. Magically when I called, the week I wanted for Hawaii HGVC was available. Exchange fee was very high even when Diamond membership. I paid $149 exchange fee + $299 elite resort fee = $449 for small 1 br Hilton Kings Land on top of the diamond member fee. Who knows how much Hilton will charge for daily resort fees. I won't renew and won't deposit anymore to SFX.

You should not have a resort fee, only occupancy tax, about $10 a night. SFX takes owner reservations so no resort fee.
