Called SFX to get a guest certificate on an exchange I have with them, which I have done a few times in the past two years. My usual rep was not answering her extension and no voice mail was picking up either. Waited in que for another rep to help me. Jennifer answered my call and told me no problem, there would be a $39.00 charge for the name change. I of course said WHOA NOW when did that fee start? I have used SFX mainly because they do not charge a guest cert. fee nor do they have any silly 1/4 rules like RCI and II> She told me she just came back to work, but thought it started about one year ago. Is this TRUE? I didn't pay the fee and left a voice mail for my usual rep who will be back to work tomorrow(monday). I will be in the area also at the time of the exchange, but my friends will be arriving first and I will be coming a few days later. Tell me if this is a fact with SFX?

SFX does have a guest cert fee of $39 when it is added on after the initial booking. If you provide the guest's name when you originally booked, there is no fee.

I just found this on their website:

Guest Certificates: Free at the time of booking. In the event you call after the booking with a different guest name, there will be a nominal $39 processing fee.

Nice thing about SFX-even if we don't understand & "break" the rules, they still provide good customer service!

This is what I got from Mark of SFX on the other site:

It is then a name change after the booking, which does incur the $39 name change fee.

To elaborate... When there is a name change, there are of course costs incurred. We wish it was as simple as just entering the new name in the computer. Here is an overview of the time and work involved for a name change...

Steps:

1. Booked guest communicates cancellation.
2. Enter new name in the system.
3. Print a report for the resort with name change information and fax to resort with updated data.
4. Wait for resort to respond acknowledging the name change. Update Member file with acknowledgement.
5. Print confirmation.
6. Mail confirmation
