Longest contract ever for a catcher

Second-highest average annual value ever - behind Mauer ($184 million)

Largest SF deal ever.

$8 Million dollar signing bonus

Full no-trade provision

Most ever for any player with less than 4 years in the Bigs

WOW!

Did I mention that he's cute, too? Kind of Tom Cruise-ish:

Was your title a typo, or a comment? :D His last name is Posey.

Smart move as they were talking about this last night being in the works! Little busy last night with signing gen manager and manager thru 2016.

They are getting out of about 44 million dollars at the end of this season with Timmy and Zito contracts coming to an end.

phill12:cool:

For Christmas I gave Robin a Posey Pro baseball jersey.

If we run into Scott 'dirty player' Cousins, can we blind-side him?

GO GIANTS!

I am such a fan... I bought this car (I mean this actual car - still finding confetti in it)

It was to see the Giants strep up and pay Buster. Two championships in three years. Amazing comeback from that injury. The Giants have already sold approximately 90% of their tickets for the entire year. I also read today that they increased their ticket prices. They are doing very well.

If anyone is a baseball fan, highly recommend taking in a game at AT&T Park. Great venue to watch a game and enjoy the view.

Go Giants!

Lots of money for the lowest paid of all position players

Love to watch him swing the bat.vary mature for a young player. Guess he will get $100,000 plus per game.About two years of my teaching salary. Must be in the wrong career.

I never understand these huge long term contracts. The guy could go out tomorrow and end up with a season or career ending injury. The owners will never learn.

Because if the Giants didn't give it to him - another team would be more than happy to do so...

I don't disagree. The issue isn't limited to just one owner, it is just about all of them. They will all be the first to be crying if there is a labor stoppage in baseball.

Though is Posey even eligible for free agency? I wouldn't think he would be if he has only been in the league for four years. Don't they have to go through arbitration if he doesn't have a contract?

I believe A-Rod is still listed as the highest paid player at $29 million for the 2013 season, which he will start on the disabled list. Meanwhile, the Houston Astros total team payroll is around $25 million. A-Rod - Astros.

Living in a small market city is is always satisfying to see those huge payroll teams flop as they frequently do.

Go Rockies!

This kind of money management is one reason I no longer am interested in any major league pro sport. I am sure no one will miss me. :D

Meanwhile, I enjoy Class A baseball where most players still play hard trying to get to the level where they can get paid these ridiculous amounts for part time work. ;)

Cheers

I agree with x3 skier. March Madness is a perfect example of non pro athletes playing for no money and playing hard.

Good ol FSU boy =)

I am in the wrong career too. Think I read Matt Lauer on the Today Show makes $25 Million/yr
