Hi Tuggers,
We have settled in our new home. Thank you for all the well wishes. Unfortunately this move was difficult and strenuous for my husband. Severe back pain, immobilized and trying to get with a doctor. We are finding out first hand how many facilities are close by and getting x-rays and referral to see a specialist soon.
We have canceled our cruise to Alaska and will focus on him getting back on his feet.
I will keep you posted and thank you Sandy, for helping cancel our trip.

Back pain is very debilitating. Rick suffers with back pain, comes and goes. I am so sorry you had to cancel a trip. It's good to feel settled in a new home. Haven't felt that feeling in a long while, 46 years ago this month, but I still remember the calm after the storm.

Glad you’re settled in. Sorry about your husband. I know all too well about back problems!

Really, better to take it easy than plan too much at once. Give yourselves time and slow down. If the cruise is meant to be it will happen another time.

Enjoy your new home! Hope your hubby recovers soon.

Definitely know about back problems. Never had it checked. I can do anything/don't restrict myself but the slightest, silliest movement and there it goes.....I might be good after a few days or it can take a month.

Hope he gets good results!

Any updates on your husband's back? This is what the stronger pain killers are for. Some doctors will not prescribe these no matter how bad the pain is.

I know our doctor will prescribe something for Rick when it gets bad, but when our doctor was out of town, the incompetent doctors said he should take Tylenol and Ibuprofen. Rick hasn't had to have the prescription refilled for a few years, and I still have a few left to get him through a tough day or two.

I know about this from experience. While awaiting surgery I was in excruciating pain for weeks because of my back and not one doctor would give me pain medicine that worked. Was just the stupid Tylenol and tramadol thing. Did nothing.

Once I had the surgery then they gave me OxyContin for the pain which worked great and I took myself off all meds after one week. I still have a few left from two years ago.

Even though I do have permanent pain on my opposite side as a result of the surgery, I have not taken them as the pain I have doesn’t warrant that strong of a med. Because I AM NOT AN ADDICT!

I’ve been using Motrin, but before my surgery, I really needed something strong and because of all the drug addicts out there, I was not allowed to have pain medicine. It’s disgusting that patients who truly need pain meds are not prescribed them.
