I want to suggest to my sis that rather than continue to store appliance & furniture that she will probably never use again, she should sell everything. But, I want to suggest a way that it could be done with minimal effort.

Any suggestions?

I'd suggest researching auction houses.

Storage facilities auction abandoned contents ( usually) about once a year. She may consider calling them and voluntarily donating her stuff at that time. Fair warning, she won't get much.

It might be better to just donate everything and get a tax deduction. .many charities will show up with a truck and take it all.

There are companies that auction off the contents of a house after the owner dies. There is no reason why a living person could not use one of these companies, too. I have no personal experience with this, but I suspect searching for "estate auctions" would be the best way to find one of these companies.

Habitat for Humanity's ReStores may be able to help. Depending on where you are may take it all and give you a deduction form.

Thanks guys, I never thought about treating it as an estate situation.
