Took over Timeshare at Death of my Father. Now realize don't want it, can't afford it, and am too old to go to it. How can I just get out of it? Have a clear deed, have made maintenance fees every month. Location is week 21, Plantation Resorts Myrtle Beach. Points have been banked with RCI. It is for 1 week every year. Any suggestion?
Thx, Rjh14

Give it away for free on the TUG Marketplace or call the resort and see if they will take it back.

Too bad you took it over and made payments. It's not necessary to accept a bequest of something with negative value, and you could have just let (forced) the resort to take it back. I'll go out on a limb and say they don't want it either. But follow Brian's instructions and rehome it here on TUG.

Good Luck!

In addition to mpumilia's suggestions, I will give this important advice. Don't go contacting any of these law firms, charities, PCCs, or Viking ship companies that claim they can get you out of your TS. At worst, they're scams, will take your money, and do little or nothing.

Mid-range, they will use questionable or illegal means to supposedly cancel your TS. At best, they will charge you thousands of dollars to do what you can do yourself for a lot less money (again, refer to mpumilia's suggestions above).

I agree with mpumilia advice. Being it is week 21, a popular week to go to Myrtle Beach I think you would get a taker.

Since the points are already banked in RCI, try and exchange for a place close to where you live.
That way you can get some use out of the week before you give it away.
If you aren’t familiar with exchanging thru RCI, go to the website www.RCI.com and there will be step by step instructions on how to exchange your timeshare.
Good Luck,
Silentg
