Sedona Summit or Ridge?

We are looking to stay in Sedona in May of 2025 and are trying to decide between the Sedona Summit or Ridge on Sedona. We would be staying in a 2 bedroom lockoff tier 4, so no Mesa or Sunset suite at Summit. We will not be golfing, primarily just hiking. Also, we would mostly be eating in unit. An updated/modern unit is a primary preference.

Given the above, which resort would you choose? Both charge a $25/day resort fee, correct?

TIA!
Alex

I've stayed at both and I thought that both were nice.

The Ridge is a little further from the center of town (the uptown Y). There was a restaurant at the golf clubhouse.

The Summit had very poor internet and cell phone coverage. Check recent reviews to see if that is still true.

The view of Thunder Mountain is really good from Sedona Summit. The view of Bell Rock is really good from the Ridge at Sedona. I like the Thunder Mountain view better.

I like both resorts and for us the Ridge is the better resort of the two. The two bed at the Ridge was a lock off that was huge and well furnished. The Ridge is in the Village of Oak Creek and a short drive to some trails including Bell Rock. It's a good 15 - 20 minutes to down town Sedona. The internet is fast enough to use a fire stick. The internet at the Summit was not that good.

We have stayed at both. Our preference is the Summit as there are many hiking/biking trails there so you don’t need to worry about parking or taking a shuttle. There is access to a shuttle just across the road though and more trails. Internet/phone service is not good.

I prefer Ridge because it is off the main road and fairly quiet. I enjoy being in the Village of Oak Creek where things are a bit more laid back than in Sedona, but you can get into all the action there in 15 minutes. The Summit is right along highway 89A and you will hear cars from it anywhere in the front half of the resort which is where they put exchangers. Yes $25 resort fee daily plus tax at either location. Thanks Hilton!

I hope you're reassured by the responses that both resorts are fine for visiting Sedona! But, when my choices are the Ridge or Summit, I almost always choose the Ridge because some of our favorite hikes are on the south/east side of town - Baldwin, Templeton, Turkey Creek, Jack's Canyon, Little Horse, Marg's Draw, Broken Arrow, etc., and I really dislike the traffic from West Sedona through the Y and traffic circle past Tlaquepaque!

The Ridge units were starting to get a little tired before Hilton took over from Diamond, but they looked much better this year. The 2BR lockoffs are quite large, and have well-equipped kitchens for making meals. We stay for several weeks at a time, a few times a year. We used to own at Los Abrigados (pre-Diamond) and have stayed in most of the timeshares in Sedona. If you're going there to hike, you are going to have a GREAT vacation!
