I read in today's AC Press that The Seaview resort will be closed Jan 17 for 9 weeks for restoration. It was bought by Stockton College and they are pouring tons of money into renovations. It probbly will not affect the timeshare portion except for maybe noise, restaurant unavailability and maybe parking. This last sentence is JMHO. The closure for restoration is reported fact.

Thought anyone scheduled to go during the nest 9 weeks may be interested.

Has the HOA published anything about the sale?

Has anyone gotten anything discussing how the sale to the college will affect the Timeshare resort?

We were there Thanksgiving week and are Platinum owners ...

and we heard of the changes then. We only anticipate positive effects from the new (culinary college) investors... We're scheduled to be there again July 4th 2011 and will post then about what we see as going on, but have heard that the culinary college will be one wing and it will be business as usual (with upgrades) at the hotel...

Happy New Year 2011 one and all!

Vicki

From a 12/13 e-mail from Matthew Barker Gen. Mgr. Fairway Villas

Did you get the e-mail to Fairway Villas? here is the part about the college purchase.

Update on the Seaview Hotel, A Dolce Resort
In August, 2010, our long standing campus partner, the Seaview Hotel, was purchased by the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, from LaSalle Hotel Properties. LaSalle Hotel Properties had owned the property since 1998. The purchase included, along with the Hotel and surrounding grounds, the Bay Golf Course. It also included assumption of the lease of the Pines Golf Course. Representatives from Marriott Vacation Club along with the resort Management Team have been in contact with Stockton College to understand their plans for the Hotel and to underline the importance of our property as a vacation resort. From these communications we have learned that their current plan is to continue to operate the Hotel and Golf Courses. No major changes are planned at this time, with both Dolce Resorts and Troon International in place to continue management of hotel and golf operations. We have learned that Stockton College has committed a large amount of resources to invest into the Hotel. In January 2011 through March 2011, the Hotel will close temporarily to complete major renovations.
Plans for the renovation include the construction of a new garden terrace at the front of the property on the current site of the clay tennis courts, a complete lobby renovation, roof replacement, a $1.4 million dollar renovation of the Bay Golf Course to include replacing 18 acres of fescue, rough areas, and a small redesign of the course, large scale HVAC replacement throughout the property, renovation of the Grace Kelly Oval Room, the Pines wing fourth floor including 40 guest rooms, golf pro shop, locker rooms, kitchen, porte cochere and the Regency conference space. During the temporary closure the golf department will remain open and under normal seasonal operations with the Bay Course open for play. The Pines Course will remain closed as historically has been the practice during the winter months. We are confident that their hard work and efforts in completing these renovations will provide you with a fresh positive experience during your next vacation and visit to the Hotel. We are very excited for the future of the Seaview Hotel and continuing our partnership. We will continue to keep you involved by communicating important information which may affect Fairway Villas.

It shouldn't have any impact unless the golf is changed somehow. It hasn't been affiliated with Marriott for a while now.

Has anyone gotten anything discussing how the sale to the college will affect the Timeshare resort?
