We are currently at Seapointe and wish we were elsewhere! This supposedly 1 br plus is so disappointing- staff unprepared, elements missing, 20yr old appliances - and- we are charged for a plus! The tug reviews did not prepare us for this and I checked.

There are 3 different one bedroom layouts at Seapointe. When you book through HGVC, they count all of them the same and they are all considered ocean view (in HGVC's opinion). When you use HGVC or an exchange company, you won't know which of the 3 bedrooms you have unless you call in and ask ahead of time.

Owners get room priority there. Even when I am there on an exchange, they give me room priority. I've downgraded to the smallest one bedroom when it has given me top floor. That room is a pretty disappointing room if you plan on staying in the room at all or if you are traveling with more than 2.

Housekeeping was way behind that last time I stayed there and also my last stay at Marbrisa. I also had a disappointing room at GPP (closet stunk like paint) my last exchange there. It seems to be a GPR management issue and not a HGVC issue. Be sure to express your disappointment to HGVC.

Sorry to hear about your issues. We stayed there last year and although clean, I agree that the place could use a refresh.

Did you get an ocean view? We had a 2 Bdrm corner unit on on the ground floor with no view. When I asked to move they said the other units with an ocean view were not available, yet they seemed vacant. It seems the HGVC crowd are allocated the less desirable units.

Would I stay there again? Yes. The location by the beach is fantastic.

The staff has been super about the facts that the dish washer blew its top all over the place, the garage entry code doesn't work so they leave the out isle open all the time, the tv Malfunctioned, and the sink plugs were missing. Great view though!

We ended up liking Seaponte precisely because of its small size and the units are being renovated so our complaints will not be relevant. I will post a review as soon as I catch up with the mail!

I agree that this sounds like a management problem. Some owners at Seapointe have complained since HGVC affiliation that they are getting the shaft by exchangers. Staff has continuously addressed the issue. It appears you traded into a small 1 Bd which has not been updated. Also, we owners select our rooms and staff conducts a lottery (which I never seem to "win). Anyway I will pass your thread onto the board and manager.

Glad you ended up liking the resort and the staff addressed your issues... Though that seems like more issues than i would prefer to deal with on vacation...

Regardless,I am bringing your original concerns up with the board. We do not want this type of first impression.

I am delighted to say that I got an email today regarding renovations for this property. They plan on doing it all at once by taking a loan and using reserves to pay for it. I pay a lot in reserves, so I am glad to see where it is going.

Here is a copy/paste of the relevant portion:

"Your Board of Directors held a special meeting on February 3, 2016 to consider proposed renovations to our resort. The Board voted unanimously to approve the plan, which will modernize our resort for everyone’s enjoyment. Rather than completing the renovations in a piecemeal fashion, we have decided to complete them all at once for maximum savings and efficiency. Our association has been approved for an approximately $5 million renovation loan, which will be paid back using our Reserves.

The first phase of construction is set to begin with 18 units in April 2016, and we can’t wait to give you a preview of the new look at our Annual Meeting on March 5, 2016. We’ve also created a website with further details about the renovation. Please check out Seapointe.GrandPacificResorts.com to track the progress of the renovation throughout the year."

I'll be at the annual meeting with some other Tuggers and we can report back if there's any new information. I hope they'll have an updated room to tour, but there is no mention of that.

I received the same email. There's a link in there with a bit more information.

I am glad to see them do the renovations - the kitchens were very tired - but I am skeptical about there being no increases in the maintenance and/or reserve fees. Interest alone on the note will be an added cost, plus repayment of the principal. It's a five year loan. I'm not sure if the annual reserves portion of our maintenance fees will cover the annual loan repayments. I wish that they had provided more specific financial information.

Still - it is a much needed improvement. Now the condition of the units will match the awesome location.

Actually we were aware of this for some time. What we did not know is the board's decision (apparently in executive session) to start the project immediately. The email stated that work will be done "off season" and not during summer. I will miss the annual meeting but will be interested in the reports. Having said this the management is very enthusiastic about being a Hilton affiliate and will not tolerate reviews such as submitted by OP.
