A few of the endangered Hawaiian monk seals have taken a liking to sunning them selves at the beaches /lagoons of Ko Olina.

We just returned from two weeks at Ko Olina and saw seals 5 times during our trip. The first was the third day when a seal swam up on to the beach at the Marriott lagoon. He stayed napping in the sun for about 6 hours. The staff roped off a 50 foot area around the seal but he was a big hit with all the visitors.

A couple days later, there was another one in the marinia's lagoon who also sleeped in the sun for about 6 hours.

We then saw two seals playing in the water of the harbor the next day.

Our final two days, we saw two seals in the natural cove just north of the Four Seasons resort. (Not in the lagoon.) No idea how long they stayed.

WHALES
We also were able to see whales about 200 yards off the shore. Mostly saw them swimming but saw a few jumping and landing on their back.
What a sight!!

Aloha
