I have a chance to stay in a 1BR unit at either of these properties next March. I've been to the hotel at Kierland (but not the villas) and I liked it. The pictures of SDO also look nice. Is there a clear winner between the two as far as being the best place to stay in Scottsdale? I don't golf so the Kierland golf course is irrelevant to me. The resorts seem to be fairly close to each other so I'm trying to decide which one to go to.

It's a no-brainer -- Kierland by a big margin. Our kids are upset that we are not going to Kierland in 2007; the adjoining Hotel amenities(lazy river, water slide) and the incredible service makes Kierland the clear winner.

Thanks for the comments! I have never seen SDO so its hard to judge just from the pictures.

We used an RCI trade last March to stay in the small 1BR side of a lockoff at SDO. We thought the place was small but nice for two people. The property was also generally very nice. Then we took the tour at Kierland and it was a stunning property. We wound up buying resale there and are really looking forward to our visit in March. If you have a choice, by all means take Kierland.

Just to confirm what the others have said, we have stayed at both and there is no comparison. Kierland is beautiful with many amenities and wonderful shopping and restaurants next door. We enjoyed our stay very much there. I like it even more than our home resort, Mission Hills. Have a great trip whatever you decide.:)

I guess it will be Kierland! I appreciate all the comments.

I like Mission Hills a lot too. I agree that the Kierland resort is more impressive but I prefer the Palm Springs area in terms of things to do nearby (I like the outdoors and the less developed feel of Palm Springs). However, I like variety so it is time to go to Phoenix again.

WKV or WKV if one is coming from the Bay Area?

If one has the choice of going to either WKV or WMH in February which one would you recommend?

We will be driving from the Bay Area, so there is a 4 hr difference depending on which one we would choose.

Would love to get some feedback. Thanks.

I have stayed at WMH as has your friend ArtsieAng ... and we both greatly enjoyed our stay and the area .....
But for a family used to the amenities of Four Seasons Aviara :ignore: - maybe WKV would be best ;)
