Scottsdale Restaurants?

Does any one know anything about any of these restaurants? They are the only ones in the "Fine Dining" section of the 2008 Entertainment Book with Sottsdale addresses. Any other recommendations? We will be in Scottsdale for 10 days next month, staying at Villa Mirage. Thanks, Diane

usually what I do is ask the locals, and they will let you know the quality of the places.

There's a wonderful Mexican restaurant (can't remember the name) on N. Scottsdale Rd - probably not too far from two of the ones you listed. I do rmember that it's a huge place and they had a mariachi band playing on a landing over the entry. Also, it's in a fairly new strip mall. You might ask your local resource about it.

Phew! These don't ring any bells with me. You might scope out tripadvisor. I don't go over to Snobsdale much anymore. These are not the ones I typically hear about and I do scope out the Phoenix magazine on a regular basis.:D
 
I looked in the Dining Guide in Phoenix magazine (a somewhat snooty - not snotty) little guide and found none of these listed :eek: I am not surprised. The quality and selection of the Entertainment Guide has been lamented by many others before me. There are many fine eating establishments in Scottsdale or close by on Camelback Road (called the Biltmore area). Tell me what you like and I'll try to steer you with some suggestions for your further review. The best bet is tripadvisor. Also, if you think $20 or more for an entree is a little steep, let me know, too.:doh:
 
Thanks so much, Nightnurse. Too bad about the Entertainment Book. It has some good choices here in Albuquerque but we will give up on it for Phoenix.

Had not thought of Tripadvisor so will look there too.

We both like Italian, Indian Thai, Greek and Mexican food. Hubby likes a good steak. We eat pretty much organic at home, but are resigned that we won't find that in restaurants anywhere. Entrees over $20 are not a problem, though we appreciate getting a good value under that when possible. Will be there ten nights so a mix would be good.

Scottsdale Restaurants

The only ones on this list I have visited are Pepin and Pita House. Pita House is more of a bar and grill than a nice restaurant. Pepin is a good Spanish and Mexican restaurant on the Scottsdale Mall close to the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art. They have live music and flamenco on weekends. I'm not familiar with the other places at all.
 
I have been looking at restaurant.com coupons for our trip this spring. There is one for the Blue Adobe on Frank Lloyd Wright and I can't find any reviews for it. The menu looked interesting. Anyone know if it's good?

How about

Maggiano's or Charleston's (not sure that's right, but something like that) try Chesterfield's. Near Frank Lloyd Wright.
 
At 101 and Scottsdale road are two good restaurants.

The White Chocolate Grill: Absolutely Fantastic! They have a salad Famous Chicken Salad with Champagne Yogurt dressing. Also, Prime Rib french dip. Blue Cheese encrusted filet.

Abuelos - Mexican, may be the one the earlier poster was talking about.

Magrath Fish House - I didn't like, but may just be me.
 
I already bought a coupon for Charlestons. The Blue Adobe is located at 10885 N Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd. Thanks for all the suggestions but the reason I asked about this particular restaurant is because I wondered if it was worth buying a restaurant.com coupon for it while the 60% off sale is still on.

I don't recognize any of these restaurants (I'm about 7 miles from Villa Mirage).

Just North in the Scottsdale 101 shopping center, besides the White Chocolate Grill is the Elephant Bar, Outback, and for a nice lunch, Paradise Bakery. The Mexican restaurant there is only so-so.

South of you, in the Prominade Center is a number of chain as well as nicer restaurants. One we LOVE for an inexpensive meal is Rumbi Grill. Just a little further south is the Keirland Center with Morton's Steak House (if you are looking for a very nice - translation: expensive dinner), Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang's, and a ton of other very nice restaurants among all the stores.

I ate at this one 2 weeks ago. I thought it was good. It was about 8pm sunday evening, and it was busy. I think it is THe Spotted Donkey(2nd floor of the group of stores)

Spotted Donkey is in Carefree which is as far north as you can go on Scottsdale Road and the intersecting road is Carefree Highway. It's in El Pedregal shopping center which is part of the The Boulders Resort. I would guess it's 10-11 miles north of 101. Luc's is also upstairs but Iive never eaten there.

Speaking of Kierland area, check out Ocean Club. Lobster Mashed Potates - $32.95 and enough for 4-5 people and worth every penny! The place to see and be seen!

Also up in Carefree is Carefree Station. Great food. Ask to sit on the roof, the views are magnificant. But you need to eat early or wait till it stays light later.
 
we ate at ABUELOS nnd found it quite good. also has larger selection of food then other mexican restaurants we have eaten in.
 
At Pinnacle Peak and Pima is Pane e Vino. Probably my favorite Italian restaurant. Period.

For some down to earth, foot stomping fun, go to Cavecreek.
