why would you think this email is a scam?

this is the automated email reminder for members who expire within 24 hours. if there is an issue with the language or similar, im happy to alter it so that it has a more legitimate appearance if it has a scammy vibe to it? This would be the very first feedback of that sort related to our renewal emails but they are so important im happy to address concerns!

for you personally, your last renewal payment was submitted in March of 2020 (after joining originally in 2019), extending your membership thru April 5, 2023 and thus you got that automated reminder.

Hi @TUGBrian ,
I think it is because the number of e-mail & texted scams is increasing (seemingly exponentially)
and so we are more on guard to this type of robbery.

I will let @StructureGuy add any additional comments since he started the thread.

It is free to be a GUEST - there is a modest fee to become a MEMBER.

correct, the forums here are free. supporting TUG with a paid membership is optional!

however folks that do support TUG with paid membership do get renewal reminders, as we do not automatically renew any memberships (nor keep any payment info on file).
