Just had a cold phone call from 407-278-4300 in regards to a strategy to sell my II Getaways and earn $1800 each for 6 to make $10K. I think this has been covered before here as a scam.

Just had a cold phone call.........sell my II Getaways and earn $1800 each for 6 to make $10K.

Those are the two biggest red flags and identifiers of a scam --- a cold call and an offer too good to be true. Besides, you don't own the Getaways so they're not yours to sell.

Hi, I have a bunch of used cars for sale, that I bought for about $5,000 each and I have buyers lined up that are willing to pay $6,000 each (plus taxes and fees). Instead of selling them myself and sustaining my business, I would like to sell them to you for $5,000 each, and you can sell them to the buyers, so you (not me) will make $1,000 per car. Sound good? Ok, just advance the $250 per car transfer fee which you will be reimbursed, along with the $1,000 profit in the end.

I keep asking "No one would fall for this, would they?" Despite the apparent obvious answer, I think they would.

I’ve used a similar analogy before. Yes, it sounds ridiculous and you didn’t even include the most ridiculous part about it which is that this whole thing begins with “a stranger called me on the phone…”.

I know this post is three years old but wanted to point out that the phone number (407) 278-4300 goes to Resort Access Network/EBT Marketing LLC. They are still scamming today. As I have stated many times before, these cold call lies about getaway weeks are typically from advertising/listing companies. The whole business model of marketing your timeshare is a sham to shield them from criminal prosecution. They claim they provide this marketing service for the funds received which makes it a civil complaint. It is a genius marketing plan by scammers. It is so successful that there are hundreds of similar companies using the same blatant lies about getaway weeks.

Resort Access Network is no different as they are a marketing company. Their whole business starts with lies so everything about them is likely going to be a lie and that includes their marketing services and their reviews. Once a liar, always a liar.

The fact that these companies continue to steal money year after year after is likely due to victims not filing complaints with the Attorney General.

“F” rated by the BBB

Edited: I had previously stated that these companies hide behind this sham marketing business model despite the renting getaway weeks lies on the cold calls. Below is Resort Access Networks response to a BBB complaint. Appears to follow exactly as I said, doesn’t it?

“We offer a for sale and/or for rent by owner marketing and advertising service. This client paid our company to market and advertise for them. While the advertisement was active, we did provide the service they signed up for.”

I just got one of these similar calls from "GMS Offers" - https://www.gmsoffers.com/page/about-us - same offer minimum 4 weeks to have them rent out for $299-$399 (times 4) upfront and offers of $1600-$1800. I returned their call because they mentioned "in regards to your timeshare property with Marriott and Interval International" - they called from 321-578-8863. They were going to send a DocuSign agreement for my consideration. They also appear to be known as "Guest Marketing Solutions" https://guestsmarketing.com/about-us/

Unfortunately, that was a mistake, and you’re likely about to get a lot more scam calls from all over the place. Stay vigilant!
