Is Santa Fe a really hard exchange? I'm looking at both RCI and II and don't see anything in the next 2 years! Any advice for trying to get a trade?
Deb

I've traded into Santa Fe two times now over Thanksgiving and also for two weeks together this coming May. I've traded through RCI, both weeks and points and for this May through Platinum Interchange.

When I went into RCI today I saw two different resorts, both with one week in December 2011 (I can't see beyond the end of 2011 right now).

You could put in an ongoing exchange, at least in RCI.

Deb are you sure you are searching for all available resorts, not just those that do not exceed the TP value of your deposit?

I found the same two resorts in Santa Fe:
Otra Vez en Santa Fe (#5045)
2 Bedrooms 6 (6) Full Sat 12-Nov-2011 Sat 19-Nov-2011 TP 24
2 Bedrooms 6 (6) Full Sat 07-Jan-2012 Sat 14-Jan-2012 TP 24

Las Brisas de Santa Fe (#0417)
2 Bedrooms 6 (6) Full Sat 29-Dec-2012 Sat 05-Jan-2013 TP 36
1 Bedroom 4 (4) Full Sat 12-Nov-2011 Sat 19-Nov-2011 TP 23
2 Bedrooms 6 (6) Full Sat 22-Dec-2012 Sat 29-Dec-2012 TP 36

Both of these resorts also have units available as Extra Vacations, as do three other resorts in Santa Fe.

Good luck with your vacation planning!

Susan

Use Platinum Interchange

They have great availability in Santa Fe. We exchanged into Villas de Santa Fe this past October using them.

Wow, I just checked and all their weeks for Santa Fe are gone. I would call them though. If you don't have a membership, sign up for one--it is free. They will let you put in a request without depositing a week. A while back, they had almost any week you would want available for 2011, so I know they get lots of Santa Fe deposits.

How did you like Villas de Santa Fe? We used Platinum Interchange to get two weeks the end of May. We've stayed at Las Brisas and also Otra Vez on our last two stays.

I loved Villas de Santa Fe! They even have complimentary juice, tea, and coffee available at the front desk. Location was excellent. My husband and I definitely want to go back.

We were able to get Villas de Santa Fe for Balloon week 1 1/2 years ago through SFX. We had a 1 BR for 4 of us so it was a bit tight, but it was a good place to stay and visit.

Our favorite location, so far was Otra Vez. Literally a block from the plaza. :D But, anywhere in Santa Fe is good.

Thanks All! DUH...I just realized I was searching for 2 years in II, but only 2 MONTHS in RCI ! (Still getting used to the new RCI search thing!)
Many thanks-I'll go back into RCI today and try this again :)

I just got a Aug 1 at the Villas at Santa Fe thru an ongoing search. Santa Fe gets a lot of deposits in January for the year. I think Villas is once every 4 years.

WE traded this year through DAE for Las Brisas. Otra Vez is the best, I think, for location. We've been going every year.

I agree. We loved Las Brisas when we stayed there. The unit was so charming. It still isn't a bad walk to get to the plaza. And there is a great restaurant really close by, Restaurant Martin.

Which airport?

When staying in Santa Fe, which airport do you go to? If Albuquerque -- how many miles is it to Santa Fe? TIA:)

I just realized I can use my Wyndham points to book Worldmark Taos and not have to pay an exchange fee. What do you all think about Taos? Could we do day trips to Santa Fe, or would we miss a lot but not staying IN Santa Fe?
I've never been to either place !
Thanks, Deb

We fly into Albuquerque. More flights. There is a small airport in Santa Fe, both nothing direct.

Google maps says 66 miles. It usually takes us about an hour. It's an easy drive, all on highway 25.

I would recommend staying in Santa Fe and taking a side trip to Taos. Personally I think there is more to do in Santa Fe and that surrounding area. However, I've only been to Taos once, and that was for a quick overnight trip so we could go to the Taos Pueblo.

Thanks...do you think I'm too late to get an exchange for September this year? (Guess I could put in a request and see what happens.....).....

I don't know. I'm not sure what "high season" is and if September is a hard trade to get. I know right now with RCI I'm only seeing two resorts on the week of November 12. But putting in an ongoing request never hurts.

I still think your best chance is with Platinum Interchange, and the exchange fee is only $129, compared to $199 for RCI.

We love it! I can hardly wait until our trip at the end of May when we'll be staying for two weeks. :D

Do you know if Platinum Interchange gets anything other than the Villas? That is what we got from them so I'm just wondering.

I have only seen the Villas, but it is usually a good selection of weeks. We were able to get the exact week we wanted in October without any problem.
