I have a reunion coming up in San Antonio Labor Day weekend 2025. Never been to San Antonio (or anywhere in TX except airports and Corpus Christi for work.) The reunion venue has not yet been announced but I plan on using my Wyndham points. I need help deciding between Riverside Suites and La Cascada. Please let me know if you've had to make the choice between the two resorts, what you chose and why. Additionally any suggestions on things to do beyond my event or side trips I may want to take maybe using WM points. TIA !

Been to both. La Cascada is nicer, newer, rooms bigger and the resort is quieter. It's downtown but on the fringe of downtown, not really a far walk from the riverwalk, but it is a walk. Has a rooftop deck with a pool, hot tubs and grilles. Public cheap parking is nearby and there's an HEB (grocery store) within walking distance.

Riverside Suites is literally right in the middle of the action, right on the riverwalk. This has the negative aspect of it being loud, especially if you are on a lower floor. It's a converted old hotel or warehouse or something, room layouts are weird, and they are smallish. No pool or reall any other amenities. But if you want to be right in the middle of the action, stay here. The alamo is a close walk

I prefer to stay at La Cascada.

Having been to both resorts repeatedly over the years (just look at all the reviews I have provided for these places), I agree with @Floridaman76 take on them.

La Cascada is newer and parking is onsite and is valet only. Bigger and more consistent rooms. Riverside Suites is in a 1925 building that is odd shaped, with makes for odd and inconsistent room layouts. Parking is not onsite, it is about a block away in a parking garage. No valet available.

If I am travel with 2, then RS works if we are planning to just be out on the town. If a group of us, then I prefer La Cascada for better public areas and onsite amenities.

I would suggest La Cascada for your group.

My son is getting married in San Antonio in the spring…We have rooms booked at Riverside Suites - through Wyndham, & RCI and I am desperately hoping to be able to exchange into the Hyatt using my other contracts ( was a little shocked to see Riverside on II.
Plans we have for the weekend
Texas Drift Academy
Six Flags San Antonio
Seaworkd San Antonio
- we will check out the Alamo but we really are a coaster kinda family.

It was one of the half dozen or so original II Fairfield/Club Wyndham resorts. In addition to the tiny number of points owners who ran the gauntlet to keep their II account to the present day, there are probably still some fixed week owners using it.

I've had four visits to San Antonio over the past two years as I traveled there for my surgeries, so maybe four weeks total. I stayed at La Cascada every time. It is easy to drive to and easy to park. It isn't loud and busy. I normally stay in the 3 or 4 presidential units. It is a quick walk to the downtown area, either on the Riverwalk or on the street.
