Recently I have been using my Samsung Galaxy s5 as a mobile hotspot. Seems to be working great. So far anyway.

It does work great. Super easy to set up. It'll cost you though - in monthly fees and/or data rates.

We recently switched cell phone providers and are currently using T mobile. I should get 10 gigs of data and at that point t-mobile throttles the data down so there is no overage fees.

From what I have read 10 gigs is about 200 hours online time depending on what your doing.

Bill, we lived in our trailer last year with 5gb a month to share. It was enough for email, regular surfing, etc. Not fast enough for streaming.

At home our phones really do not work good as a hot spot. When we get closer to town it works pretty good.

Last week in Manhattan it worked great but since the Manhattan Club has free internet I didn't need to use the hot spot.

This week in Atlantic City its working fantastic. We didn't want to pay for internet access so we are using the hotspot feature. Im streaming netflix without any problems. My wife is doing her thing with her ipad while Im happy on my outdated laptop.

It might be that data plans are iffy in rural areas like my house or most of Idaho.
