Same resort, with two RCI numbers?

While searching RCI for something fun to do next year, I found the Mayan Palace Riviera Maya. TUG reviews are nice, and it sounds like a pleasant place to go. But there are at least two RCI codes - 6483 and 6635.

Further searching shows Grand Mayan Riviera Maya, with codes 6973 and 6974.

Why two codes? Is there a difference? Does it matter? How do I know which I'd be getting? Neither says it's all-inclusive, and the RCI descriptions are the same. Anyone know what's up with this?

Thanks,
Dave

Not that unusual. It's the same resort but sometimes they set up a seperate account code for developer deposits Vs. owners deposits. There may be some other reasons and perhaps someone else may have further information. :hi:

It is a common situation although I do not know why for your particular instance.

Often used for different "Clubs" in the same resort.

Used for different delelopment phases. A newer one may be GC and an older one SC.

Also used where there are different Management Companies for different parts of the resort.

Also have seen different ID #s for different checkin and duration of stays. A five day stay in Atlantic City at a FF resort for example.

There may be other reasons also.

I notice we identify them at TUG, too. For example, the Shell Vacation Club at the Legacy Golf Resort here in Phoenix. As far as I know, all the condos are the same (possibly some were weeks versus SVC points) but we carry two resort reviews.

RCI uses different code for different reasons which have already been stated. Each time they list the resort it is listed under a single code so because of that the resort could be listed 2-5 times each time under each code.

II also has resorts with multiple codes but II only lists the resort once but has the one resort listed under muliple codes.

I think that I remember Madge listing all of the Mayan Resort numbers on a thread in "ASK RCI" a while ago, and describing what type of deposits the numbers referred to. You could probably find it using the "search" function.

Sometimes there are actually more than one resort at a resort. Branson Yacht Club, for instance, has the original Grandvista Branson Yacht Club, now Westgate, and the Escapes Branson Yacht Club, different buildings at the same resort. In addition, they are within Rock Lane Resort, owned and operated by the Heckman family, not Escapes or Westgate.

Some, such as Crown Point in Horseshoe Bend, AR, have two resorts within one resort. Because the units are furnished differently they have different ratings.

Then, most of us are familiar with Orange Lake, and how they recently divided their one resort into four, to start their family of resorts.
