Went to a presentation at grand vista. No pressure once we told him that we will always purchase from our one previous rep who stays in touch and has helped us book on multiple occasions and that we just purchased a bundle with her.

said pricing is $15.84 and just went up last month but quickly offered us a bundle realizing we had done so before and new they existed. So ended up seeing $8.04 per point

was offered double bonus points which we knew of from our last purchase so 4000 with extra for financing

levels might change but did not give a number of what chairman would go to. Just said they have only changed one other time (which I think is true from reading from others here)

did say that Hyatt and welk Would not be able to be booked directly with vacation club points without going to interval

was told the points would go to $18-$19 a point at the end of the year with the new resorts and when I brought up resale points go for $3 he said they will start buying them back for me (I’ll hold my breath)

no sales manager came but was offered an encore to go to Marco island we declined as we have enough points

$300 visa and out in 60 min
one of the more pleasant experiences and felt I actually learned or was reminded of things

As a Welk owner that is interesting but not surprising. There were initially rumors of a rebranding of the Welk resorts. But I have not seen any sign of that either, maybe next year. Fortunately I am a happy Welk owner and not needing to see any changes. :)

Thanks for the update information we currently have three weeks at Welk San Diego and really don’t know what to do with them. We have been waiting to see if any updates were coming from MarriottVacationClub just don’t trust the sales people at owners updates. We usually trade our weeks with RCI and I believe that will change soon. Welk has always had the option to trade with RCI and II.

Back in my Marriott days I never went to a presentation. What I did was walk into the Sales Office when I thought they wouldn't be busy and asked to see a Sales Rep. I was always accommodated and most of the time the Sales Rep and I would walk around the property and check out a couple of rooms talking all the way. Got my information in a leisurely manner. They even gave me two nice Marriott logo beach towels at the Marriott in Vail...

That’s how we ended up with the rep we have purchase from the last few times. My husband wasn’t with me so I couldn’t do the presentation so I just asked to talk to someone to get some information regarding our week we got off redweek. She was great and was Deff a change in pace from the traditional presentation where you don’t get any answers to your questions!

The sales people at Westin St John swore we would be able to book Hyatt and Welk directly.

I said, Yeah, No

WOW.....we were at the Vista and went to the sales presentation at Lakeshore yesterday too (I really liked Lake Shore)! We only got $150....for our 2.5 hours of time.....I probably should have held out....but I was satisfied. We didn't buy anything; we don't own anything.....I really need to find out more information.. He talked about points getting "free" extra vacations....(because I checked and the amount of points 1500-2000 won't get us much; and I'd only buy the points from someone here on TUG.....not at Marriott prices). I really like Marriotts.....but we're at Eagles Nest on Marco now this week and I really like this! What are the discounted extra / bonus vacations that the salesman talked about (where can I research this)??

The discounted vacations are likely the Destinations Escapes vacations that are available to Destination Points members. It's unused inventory usually available 60 days or so out in off-season or shoulder season. You can get some decent deals there, especially for Orlando. Bonus vacations are available in Interval, or they could be referring to the extra points you get from the purchase.

Resale points get you access to everything retail points do.

I think I remember the salesman using the word "escapes" - If you bought a small amount of "destination points" (enough for an off-season week)....would you always have access to the escape vacations? (or once you used up your destination points for the year does access to these "escapes" go away until next year? - kind of like a owner week deposited in II ?).....how many escape vacations could you take advantage of within a year (4, 8...more?)....understanding most are less than 60 days out. Could I do back to back escapes on HHI in November or May.......any idea how much a typical escape costs? If you buy destination points privately....I assume you have to enroll yourself ($$) in II annually? Does your access to "Bonus vacations" only last as long as you have points deposited (like an owner week)? If I only had a few points (lets say 1500)....would I "see" very few Bonus vacations or escapes at all?....even within 60 days? Do you ever see great deals like something at Lakeshore or Marco? Thank you so much for anyone willing to answer these questions.....or someone willing to direct me to a good source for information.....I don't believe I can access/see escapes or bonus vacations unless I'm a member.....so it's really hard to judge their value - and these additional vacations are where I "think" I would see the value of owning.

I wouldn’t buy points if the primary purpose is Destination Escapes. To give you an idea, here is a link to the current offerings. As you can see, only 2 are listed for December. To answer one of your questions… you use your points to book them, so when your points are exhausted, you cannot book any more unless you rented additional points.

The Sales reps prefer this since the “tour” does not count against their performance averages.

Did they say where the new clubs will be? Did they mention anything about the integration with Vistana?

Probably getaways with interval. They seem to push that hard in the beginning, we have found a couple good weeks on there for $300 or so

He said first quarter of next year no date specific . Only new ones I saw were some Westin’s and a Hyatt when I asked to see stuff in Hawaii but they had to be booked through interval
