We are going to be staying at Sabal Palms for the first time. I'm looking at the resort map and trying to decide which building would be the best to request for us. We would like to be in a renovated unit with a golf course view & not terribly far from the basketball courts & clubhouse area. What building(s) would you suggest. Thanks so much!:)

To the best of my knowledge ALL villas have been refurbished and completed. There may be some minor work to be completed at this time such as landscaping and parkinglot repair. If you want to be near the basketball courts then you want to be on the side of 4213-4221, 4119-4126, 4113-4114. I stayed in 4113 this past December and had an excellent view of the Golf course and a short walk to the club house and pool area. May I suggest that you call Catalina Cockerille (been there a long time) at the front desk. She would be glad to help you with whatever requests you might have. Enjoy your stay. The telephone number for the front desk is 407-238-6200 and remember when checking in drive the full length, in the back of the World Center (hotel), and you will see the Sabal Palm sign.

Sabal Palms is a small resort. You want to avoid the units that look toward the hotel. You may want to avoid the units that overlook the pool.

The building are two story with wooden floors, so if you are on the lower floor, you will hear kids jumping up and down, if there are kids running wild above you. But if you are on the upper floor, you have to climb the steps. Except for the few units looking at the pool or back toward the hotel, all the the glof course views are wonderful.

Oh, and the ones at the point toward the highway see the fireworks at Downtown Disney.

Thank you so much - this is all very helpful. We are looking forward to our stay there!

When do you call in request?

How far ahead of my stay would you suggest that I call in my request to Sabal Palms?

Marriott's Sabal Palm Villas @ Orlando World Center Resort

Serina - As of last September 2010, the villa refurbishments at Marriott's Sabal Palms is complete and absolutely stunning. The Sabal Palms resort consists of two-story L-shaped townhouses nested side-by-side in a chevron or V-shape. Looking at the satellite view of the resort below, we stayed in the eastern-most villa of the V-shape that points east towards the golf course. If barrier-free access is a consideration, then the ground floor unit is ideal as the upper villa has a straight-run stair (which can be daunting if not challenging w/ or w/o luggage).

What we liked about these units is that all of the living spaces have a view of the golfcourse.

Keep in mind that Sabal Palms is tucked away in the northwest corner of Marriott's Orlando World Center Resort (below). The resort is home to two of my favorite restaurants, Hawks Landing and Tuscany and my favorite cascading pool in Orlando.

As the video adventure, 'Gorman Getaway 2010' makes evident, the OWC is an incredibly fun place jammed with not less than 12 pools (in addition to the pool at Sabal Palm Clubhouse)

Get ready for an unforgettable time!

Thanks for the pic's we will be at Sabal Palms in a few weeks, glad they are updated. Last time I was there they were getting some work done, but ours unit was still a bit dated.

TJCNewYork: Thanks for the pictures and information!

We are just ending a marvelous week at Sabal Palms... picked up a couple weeks on eBay and am very glad we did. The place is gorgeous. Access to all the facilities at the Convention Center is terrific. The staff is marvelous.

I think Sabal Palms is a hidden jewel in the Marriott system. (We move over to Grande Vista for 3 more lovely weeks escaping the weather in the Northeast.)

Scott, how does Sabal Palms compare to Grande Vista? Is it as nice? I like the location, which seems to be very near Grand Beach Resort (the Disney Grand Floridian look-alike resort). Short drive to Disney, very little traffic. I have considered exchanging into the resort but have found Cypress Harbour and Grande Vista to be easy to get through exchange. I have really been tempted lately to try the other Marriotts, in case we have to buy for our Marriott trips.

Scott: Thanks for the update. Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. We will be staying there for the first time too. Any other tips about Sabal Palms?
