Next year we plan to be full time in our Airstream Trailer RV and still own TS in Myrtle Beach. WIth all the some time cheap deal on RCI, good rentals on TUG and the TPU we get we plan to try and spend a week at different TS resorts to have a break from the RV..

My question is do most places have or allow you to park your trailer on property or do you have to get a storage or some other type of accommodations..

When we picked up our unit in florida 3 yrs ago were we staying at a place near Universal on I drive and they had parking across the road we could park the airstream but it was for like 2 days. I have seen other say in the comments.. NO RV's etc..

Anyone else have RV and use TS concurrently.. ??

We don't combine RV & timeshare travel but my parents used to visit us in their motorhome while we were vacationing at timeshares years ago. They stayed in their motorhome all winter in FL so when we came down in March or April they would visit us for a few days. A few resorts in Daytona and Kissimmee as well as our home resort in St Augustine Beach allowed them to park at the back or edge of the lot for a few hours during the day but never overnight. The only place that allowed them to park the motorhome for a few days was the Powhatan in Williamsburg but that was in the 90's.

Years ago we stayed in a timeshare resort, I cant even remember where, that had a camp ground on the property. You couldn't see it from the timeshare buildings but the campers used the same entrance.

I think it would really vary.

We have found (when we had an RV) that many places assume all RV's are 'poaching' the parking spots and squatting in the parking lot.
I think you would get some real grief on that at some locations. I know if the parking lot was full.....and you were occupying several spots with your rig...I think some folks would get miffed.

Perhaps a few phone calls to the resort might answer your questions.....

I think for most resorts that would be a no, possibly with the exception of certain large resorts that have overflow parking where you can leave it parked fairly far away from your unit.

You would definitely need to call each resort to check.

I don't have a travel trailer but I have parked my big boat at a couple of truck stops and a casino while I stayed at a resort. The truck stops had pay truck parking so I had to pay about $15. The casino was free.

I didn't feel safe leaving it at Walmart or on a street that I couldn't see. Some u-haul facilities have rv parking. Some churches will allow it with a donation.

I have seen a number of resorts where there is parking for RVs and other large vehicles. Couldn't tell you which ones or where. I believe I even saw one once. I do not recall them where we own Marriotts, though there may be parking for them at some.

I would agree your best bet is to call in advance and confirm all is ok. Better than a surprise!

We fulltime RV and struggle with this often. We mostly stay at Wyndham resorts and there are several of them that do have large overflow lots where we can leave the RV but we are finding the majority do not. So our choice is to pay to leave it in whatever campground we may have been in close by or find a secure storage location. Right now it’s in a locked storage yard in the Houston area while we timeshare for 8 weeks in Grand Cayman. Some campgrounds have storage areas that you can move to that are much cheaper than paying for a site if you don’t need electricity to keep a fridge going. Those are a great option.

Good luck! We love the lifestyle!

It's going to vary, likely by resort size, and their location. Resorts near water, where people might bring their boats, are likely to have extra parking for boat trailers, etc.

Call ahead, that's your best bet.

Happy Travels!

yes, it depends on the resort. I know the timeshare at Port Canaveral takes RVs and boats

A lot of resorts will specifically say if RV and trailer parking is prohibited. There are certainly many that do, given that they lack the parking facilities in terms of vehicle size and numbers. You just have to read the details page.

I've noticed that most of my Worldmark confirmations specifically mention "no RV or trailer parking available." I note this because one day I hope to travel around in an RV and spend some time in timeshares or hotels. Perhaps an RV forum might have some good information about safely parking rigs near your resort.

I think even if space would allow an RV rig being parked on-property, the resort would worry about "stealth" camping and can easily prevent that by having a "no RV" policy.

I don't blame resorts for not allowing RV's and trailers. I mean- you need big parking spaces and also who wants a bunch of big RV's lined up at a nice resort? Not to mention people could camp in them. Timeshare resorts are not RV camps.

Really- the point of owning an RV is to use them for lodging as one travels or for full time living, not to travel to a resort to stay there. But if that is what you want to do, then you have to find somewhere else to park it.

was sorta thinking finding a place off site might be the best bet for the RV.. I was on some other forums and a was reading that a lot of rv parks sometimes have storage you can use for a week or so.. hope to make it work out for RVing and TSing.. peace out.. :)

At one time Silverleaf's Holiday Hills resort (Now HICV) had an RV park as well as Fox River Resort. Fox River bought an existing resort which sold camping memberships. I don't know if those were bought out or are still active.

I'd call the individual resorts and ask them specifically. The ones I know of have designated overflow spaces where RV's can be parked while you're staying in a unit, but you have to let them know and they don't allow you to use them as accommodations while parked there.
