We've been playing the game of Rummikub a lot during the lockup. We have found rules requiring 30 points to begin play and other rules requiring 50 points to get out. Does anyone out there know the official amount or is there a variation of that game that requires 50? We've been using the 30 points.

I'm a Rummikub fan as well. I've researched this topic because I've encountered a variety of variations on the rules. Turns out the printed rules come in several flavors. I'm used to playing 30 for coming out. Can't imagine doing 50.

We are new to the game and we also play for 30 points to begin. We rotate this game with scrabble and 500 rummy. One of the perplexing rules for us is the use of the joker. We have been playing that you need to replace a joker on the table with the same value and that you have to use two of your own tiles to play that joker. Are there any other options?
