Rules regarding changing reservations using points

Apologies in advance if this has been asked before a million times but I had heard rules had changed recently...
Anyway, basically, I have a bunch of points that I need to book for Carmel (my home resort). My fixed week dates are Pebble Beach car week in August. I decided to not use the full week for the reservation this year (still going but not the full week; I think I booked Thursday to Tuesday) and my understanding is that I have to book my remaining points prior to the start of my fixed week (weeks 32 & 33 in my case). I was planning to book a bunch reduced point dates from Sunday to Thursday between September, October, and November. I am not completely sure I will be able to go those dates at this time, however. What are the current rules regarding changing dates after booking? Trying to avoid losing points.

You probably realized that changing dates after booking is expensive. You incur booking fees and cancellation fees and then more booking fees….But your points in CUP can just sit there in your account until they become LCUP. CUP points can be used for II reservations too.

This is always good discussion for Hyatt owners and not a waste of time!
 
Well, you don't "have to" book with your remaining points before your owned week in August - but it is advised to do so if you can because the points will enter LCUP for 6 months and can only book inventory within the next 2 months.

Hyatt punishes you for speculative bookings by not only losing your reservation fee but adds the insult of a cancellation fee. I would try and book something you believe you will use.

I am making a guess you will have 660 points left from a plat 1br premium. If so you can spend them in II for a 550 or 650 point studio before your use week. Too late to move points to EEE which would have given you 2 more years to spend them - that had to be done 4 months before your use week in August.

Good luck. We all hate to lose points. I try to stuff them in EEE but we have a few Interval locations where we love to go.
