I've long figured it was just a matter of time before Raintree got taken over by someone. I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.

Dear Member,

Since its inception in 1997 with the acquisition of the three Club Regina Resorts in Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, and Los Cabos, Raintree Vacation Club has grown significantly. What began as a program allowing Club Regina members to choose their annual Mexican destination evolved into a network of 16 resorts across Mexico, the United States, and western Canada.

I am pleased to announce a new chapter in Raintree Vacation Club’s ongoing growth. Royal Holiday, a leading vacation ownership company based in Mexico City with offices in Latin America, Europe, and the United States, has acquired the management of Raintree Vacation Club and its three flagship Club Regina Resorts. This acquisition represents Royal Holiday's next phase of growth after over 40 years in the vacation industry.

Under Royal Holiday's management, RVC Members can expect accelerated refurbishment and renovation at the three Club Regina Resorts, and access to Royal Holiday's extensive destination portfolio of 180 destinations in 52 countries, allowing you to stay at the best hotels, affiliated resorts, villas, and condominiums around the world. In addition, Royal Holiday offers personalized travel options and services, including cruises and flights, exclusive discounts, and enhanced exchange and travel opportunities.

For more information about Royal Holiday, please visit www.royal-holiday.com.

Following a short transition period, Royal Holiday will assume the management of Raintree Vacation Club and the three Club Regina Resorts and will continue business as usual for our Members. All Raintree Resorts in the United States will also be part of Raintree Vacation Club under your Membership as will our exchange relationships with RCI and Registry Collection. You will make reservations and have access to Member Services just as you always have. Your 2025 Maintenance Fee statement will be sent within the next week. The payment process remains unchanged, and payments should continue to be made to Raintree Vacation Club. As in previous years, these fees will support Member Services, Member Experiences, and Resort Operations.

We are confident that this transition will maintain the high-quality member services and experiences you currently enjoy and also open up exciting new vacation travel possibilities. Our goal remains the same as it has always been - to help Raintree Vacation Club Members create wonderful vacation memories with the same friendly faces to greet you with a warm 'Welcome Home' upon your arrival.

Best wishes for your future travels,

Doug Bech

Consolidation continues ...

WoW, where should I try to go when current RHC members might get access?

Can anyone tell what this means for Whistler resorts under Raintree? It doesn't say anything about Canada, only US and Club Regina.

Just returned from Club Regina in PV. Over the years got to know Alberto the GM. Had breakfast with him (No, not a presentation lol)... We are/were also Whisky Jack RVC members.
He really did not know for sure what would happen to the Whisky Jack owners, however, he did say that RVC was NOT shutting down, people would continue to pay their MF's to Raintree, Raintree would operate under the Royal umbrella, no new memberships would be sold and Raintree would continue to exist until the last membership expired. High likelihood of course that Royal will be approaching RVC members and trying to switch them.
Why did I say we are/were members? We sold both out Ironwood units last year when the HOA conglomerated? the individual titles on a few units and sold them as full title condos. Amazingly our two units were within the few that happened to. Having nothing left to deposit we used all remaining points and bid RVC farewell!

Just back from Club Regina Cabo-- Missed the new Royal Holiday presentation. Would love to know what they have to offer.

FYSA-
As far as Raintree/Club Regina Cabo, the place was looking good- ship shape.
We were in a refurbished room with some really nice upgrades IE- New big TVs, bathrooms were very nice and a few other nice improvements.
The property was looking much better with landscape upkeep, painting of the exterior buildings and new electric golf carts.
Staff is still amazing.

Yesterday I had my presentation at Club Regina Puerta Vallarta. As the rep said, the good, bad, ugly.

I was surprised as I believed my R-10 contract is with Raintree Vacation Club (RVC). No, with a company called Akira. RVC uses Akira to reserve my use at Club Reginas (and not sure, yet probably the others like Whistler). I emailed RVC member services to get a listing where I can use my points as the RVC website is not accurate. Villa Vera is listed on the website and I know it was closed in 2024 and now -- when I stayed across the street from it.

My RVC R-10 contract expires 2034 (180,000 points). I have 478,800 points available. My 2025 maintenance fee is high $4,865 and will go up next year. Royal Holiday reps were offering different point configurations for either 10, 15, or 30 years and lower maintenance fees if I paid over $20,000 or higher, depending on the point configuration and the time period. I asked for time to consider.

Best for me to stay with my R-10 contract; use up all available points; pay the maintenance fee until I have no available points, then decide what to do.

Any words of wisdom? Or other things I am missing to consider?

Never heard of Akira. We were RVC/Club Regina Members for years before we gave it away to cut back. We were Platinum Level. We mainly stayed at Cabo and once Cancun. We sent Family and friends to the Big Island and Birch Bay.

I sat through the presentation on Cancun. You have all your rights to the RVC RESORTS. Do not do the upgrade. I asked you see the blank contract and reviewed it without any distraction. It is a 30 year contract and it states that terms of contract cannot be changed. If you want their membership, you can get one free on TUG CLASSIFIED ADS. You just pay the transfer fee. But do not buy their program.
Yes, maintenance fees are going up every year but so are theirs. Many of their resorts are all-inclusive. Los Tules is one of their resorts. No elevators with 3 story buildings spread across the property. You have to carry groceries and luggage up to your unit. There were other things in the member guide book which has rules in back of the book Borrow the book and review the resorts and the rules. Just tell salesman you want to think about it. Many of their resorts have 1 bathroom while we have two. Their points expire if you don’t use them within the 2 year window.
They do not have the shoulder season when it takes 30,000 points vs 50,000 points for a one bedroom unit. I don’t use my points except for PV and Cancun. If I want to go other places, I can search out other options or RCI extra vacations. I will stay at Club Regina for 8 weeks in a 1 bedroom in prime time. It is my winter second home. I do not need the new program.
If you want what they offer, get it through TUG
