Roundhouse Resort?

Hi...Is anyone here at all familiar with Roundhouse Resort in Pinetop, AZ? A friend has purchased 2 wks (1 BR) from a client for the back maintenance fees. It doesn't sound so good to me, from what I can see, except that VRI has just purchased it.
My friend is not likely to ever use it, even though she lives in Phoenix. She works hard, and when she vacations she isn't likely to go to Pinetop. My suggestion was to donate it, or wait to see what VRI does with it, but that she might be looking at special assessments. Anyone have any thoughts on this? (There haven't been any reviews since 2004)

Jaybee- We really gotta stop meeting like this. I have passed by these resorts (Kohl's & the others) on occassion but never stopped. From the outside they look pretty good but they are very isolated. Also, even though the ratings are old (and very low), the fact is the only TV they would get would be satellite. It's beautiful country and a good escape during the Phoenix summers and the road is a lot better since they have been working on it to Payson. Also, the good news is VRI is now manageing these resorts since it's recent acquisition. There is a lot of potential (and, unfortunately a lot of possibility for special assessments). I wouldn't be surprised it tht's why it went so cheaply. My first rule is always buy something you would be willing to go to (my husband's first rule is buy low, sell high!!). I hope your friend likes to snow, too!

Hi, Nurse of the night..... I'm glad you're following me with your helpful info.
I appreciate your view of the situation, and it's pretty much what I figured. My friend has absolutely no clue about timeshare values, or how to use them. I tried to explain a little, but I did suggest she join TUG and read Steve's Timesharing 101. I hope she does that, at least. The whole thing sounds like an Albatross to me. Thanks for the help. Jean
