Hi
I searched but did not find a thread about room location recommendations for Club Son Antem. This is our first European resort of MVCI so really excited to go and check out Mallorca. Thank you.

Below is the resort map, its a large area, so it can take 15 mins to walk from one end to the heated Spa pool area where the front desk is. There are pools by the villas, but they are unheated so too cold for most people other than in July, Aug and Sept, but nice sitting areas when they are open, which has been 1 April to early Nov.

There aren't any bad locations, just some parts are further away from things than others, so it depends on what you want.

A car is highly recommended as there is nothing in walking distance and some great restaurants in the nearby town of Lluchmajor. Depending on when you are going there may be events on in the town too.

There are 8 townhouses in each building.
It depends whether you have a 3 Bed or 2 Bed townhouse?
There are only 20x 3 Bed townhouses in the whole resort, out of 224, and these are located in the middle of the buildings (but not all of the buildings)
The 2 Bed townhouses can be either 2 Bed upstairs or 1 Bed upstairs and 1 Bed downstairs.
So these are factors to consider along with what Hindsite says.
I would just say that we and many other owners swim in the unheated villa pools in June, when the air temperatures can be very warm.
Having said that, I was swimming in an unheated pool in mainland Spain in March this year, although that was rather bracing!

Indeed, I was cautious with my wording to ensure it covered more hardy souls than I :ROFLMAO:

You'll find that most northern European guests are quite happy to swim in the unheated pools in May/June. Be aware that you might encounter some guests, usually German, swimming naked in the pool (I've made that awkward discovery on more than one occasion) and also expect full nudity in the mixed sauna in the spa (again mainly Germans) but don't feel obliged to completely disrobe, no-one cares if you'd rather wear your swimming outfit or a towel.

The most popular units are the 600's as they are the closest to the main pool, reception, restaurant and marketplace. I like the high 500's as they're close to La Finca and a reasonable distance to the main centre however most of our time is spent at the villa pools now that we no longer have young children who demand the heated pool (this gets very busy during school holidays).

Wow, I have seen several people at the pools naked whilst towelling down and changing costumes but never yet actually in the pools!
And in the mixed sauna one time one person actually told me off for not completely disrobing. I replied that it was personal choice but I did check afterwards with the Spa Manager who confirmed this decision is up to the individual.
Some strange folk around?

Yes, one morning I took my book down to the pool for a relaxing read and first noticed an abandoned swimsuit on the poolside before my attention was drawn to a naked woman in the pool (I assumed she was German, experience dictates I was likely correct). As there was no-one else present I didn't feel comfortable staying so I hot footed it back to the villa. There was another occasion but I wasn't the sole spectator then so I felt less vulnerable (sad indictment of our times).

My response would be “Oh Nooo, we don’t do that! We’re British!”

Does anyone know if the sofa beds in the townhouse are the American Leather memory foam sofa beds that are in many of the other Marriott Vacation clubs? Thanks in advance!

Not that I have seen. The resort starts soft refurbishment this autumn, so you could contact them to check what might be available.
@bazzap are you there to confirm?

The sofa beds are not leather memory foam currently.
We will be back there in a couple of weeks, so if I can learn more about any planned soft goods replacement programme, I will post a further update.

What is there to do on Mallorca in the late fall?

Where to start?
Palma is a fabulous city
Character inland villages - Valldemosa, Deia…
Scenic Tramuntana mountains with coastal towns of Soller, Pollensa…
Beautiful beaches and coves, too many to mention but our favourites are in Cala Mondrago natural park

Not actually so strange. Germans, Austrians and some Nordic folks believe wearing clothing (including bathing suits) in the sauna is "dirty"....in their minds you should disrobe, take a shower to clean off and then use the facilities for the "cleanest" experience. The Japanese also follow this protocol for their onsens. Not my cup of tea, but I don't consider it "strange" as it's quite logical (just not in line with my puritan upbringing).

“When in Rome” as they say.
In Mallorca and Spain generally it is not normal though and the majority use a towel or swimwear for cover.
Noone should dictate to others anyway, provided they follow the spa rules.

Totally agree...and I should have acknowledged that this is NOT the norm in the Med countries. At Club Son Antem it should be totally normal to wear a bathing suit in the spa.

On interesting norms, I have discovered that in Italy many resorts are militant about the use of a swim cap (no matter the length of your hair), such that I've tucked one away in my toiletry bag just in case (the first time I was quite perturbed to be required to fork over EUR 5 to the resort for not having brought my own....some resorts give them out if needed.

Yes, it can be a challenge keeping up with the rules in different countries.
We used to spend a lot of time in France.
There they are perhaps less rigorous on swim caps than Italy, although some resorts do demand you wear them.
They can be much stricter on normal swimwear though.
At many resorts, boys and men are not usually allowed to wear loose-fitting or long swimming trunks. When that is the case, a pair of tight-fitting trunks or swim briefs are compulsory.

We went in early November 2021, loved Valldemossa!

This restaurant/hotel/church is in Randa, beautiful area, you can see almost a 4 corners of the island. We went during the day, and sat at the cafe.

The town of Llucmajor:

Es Trenc beach:

We stayed 4 nights at Son Antem before flying to Barcelona. We asked the staff/conciege for recommendations, and they didn't disappoint!
