Riviera Maya, all inclusive, traveling with a teen, why two Grand Mayan RCI #'s?

HI--we have not been to the gulf side of Mexico and are considering it for spring break next year since our normal Cabo has horrible flight prices this year. Any suggestions about where to stay? What is the difference between the two Grand Mayan RCI #s? I show 6973 and 6974? Any great AI experiences?

Any suggestions and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

One is probably deposits by owners, the other units that the company uses for marketing.
 
Not sure if you're referring to AI with the Grand Mayans, but if you are, the Vida resorts are not AI.
