We received our package o Monkey King 100% Kona Coffee from @ScoopKona, but only got to open it today (sorry, Scoop my wife had to finish her open bag before she’s lets me open a new one). We actually used to own and run a specialty espresso shop in Honolulu so I know a bit about coffee but ultimately tasting is pretty simple. It just boils down to what smells appealing and what tastes good to you?

Well Scoop’s hand picked Kona coffee tasted great to me. The beans have a light but pleasant aroma both out of the bag and after expressing. I pulled a few shots to experiment with the grind size that this coffee wants, and I was very happy with the result. Kona coffee isn’t meant to be a bold morning shock, but mellow and flavorful, and Scoop’s Monkey King is consistent with this profile.

This is a very enjoyable coffee. However, even aside from the flavor, I think I also enjoyed what it evoked. I was born, raised, and spent virtually all of my professional life in Hawaii until we moved to LA a few years back for my wife’s family reasons. Even then I commuted back and forth several times per month until not long ago. While I sat and sipped my Monkey King Americano, it really took my mind back to the ease of Hawaii. It was relaxing and enjoyable, just what a nice coffee should be.

Thanks much!

After harvest this year, I'll be able to offer a couple different roasts. Dark would be far better for espresso. This time, I had to roast everything in one shot. So I went with Full City.

Do you have an ordering site somewhere?

Hold on to your wallet, it’s pricey. 100% Kona coffee is always pricey, I know.

I just got my Bay View Farm order of Kona coffee. It was just as good as I remembered. Expensive, but not as expensive as Scoop's. One pound medium roast, $49.95 (plus shipping). It does just fine for me. :D :coffee:

A rising tide lifts all boats. Everyone who buys 100% Kona helps all the farmers, and all the towns along the Kona belt. We don't have much in the way of resorts or bars. So coffee is what keeps this part of West Hawaii going.
