Looking for recommendations by Harbour Lake, both family friendly and a nicer place just for adults. I know in an earlier thread there were one or two rec., but wondering if there were some more favorites around.

Is anything within walking distance of Harbour Lake, or will we need to drive to wherever we go?

Thanks for everyone's help- best source for trip planning :)

restaurants

You'll have to drive. Nothing within walking distance.

Below is a link to location of Harbour Lake Resort and proximity to restaurants.
Notice that INTERNATIONAL DRIVE is very close, running near the resort via Westwood Blvd----that's where all the restaurants are....literally a hundred or more. Noooooo problem.

(This post might be a good one to hold onto for anyone going to Orlando, as most of the Marriott resorts are in this area, and Marriott World Center Hotel isn't far away either. From WC Hotel, for restaurants, you simply head east on WC Drive, then take left on International Dr and within a couple of miles you'll hit "Restaurant Row".)

Below the first link is a second, listing all the restaurants on Int'l Dr.
Click on each to see its info page.

More Int'l Drive restaurants---a "best of" list:

You can also sift thru these, but not all are near Int'l Dr:

Harbour Lake is off Westwood. At the corner of Westwood and Int'l Blvd is a small Italian restaurant which we enjoyed. It is called Delmonico's. Approximately 2 miles from Harbour Lake.

nkn

You "could" walk, but it is almost a mile just to get to I-Drive and then another mile before you hit the first few restaurants. Get a weekly car rental on costcotravel.com if you are a costco member.

We like Giordano's for Italian/Pizza at the Apopka-Vineland & Palm Parkway location (about a 5-10 minute drive from Harbour Lake). They're on restaurant.com and service/food are both excellent!

We liked Ciao Italia Ristorante, at 6149 Westwood Blvd. In shopping mall on corner of Westwood Blvd. and International Drive just south of the Bee Line Expressway (1.6 miles from Harbour Lake). A little expensive but they have discount gift certificate on Resturants.com.

We LOVE Ciao Italia and eat there every time we are in Orlando. My husband is of Italian heritage, and is very picky about authentic Italian food (want to see his head explode? Say "Olive Garden" - and stand back . .) We have never had a bad meal there - and some really good ones. It is in a strip mall - which should in now way be interpreted as negative - and is BEHIND/next door to Delmonico's - which we have not eaten at.

Another vote for Giordano's. We make sure we go at least once per visit to Orlando.

We also enjoy Bice at the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal. They are also on Restaurant.com though it isn't very close to Harbour Lake.

Thanks for all the suggestions- any other rec. are welcome :)

We are renting a car; the reason I asked about walking distance is we wanted the "kids" to have a chance to go out by themselves a bit at night, so wanted to know if we needed to plan on grilling those nights or if there were other options close by. Certainly need a car to access the parks, etc.

For adults and older teens,

I like Seasons 52 in the Dr. Phillips area.

Do you know whether this is an independent or is a franchise of the great Giordano's Chicago pizza chain?

A Bonefish Grill just opened a while back. It's right around the corner. It is a chain, but I highly recommend it.

Second Giordano's. Always a couple visits each trip for us. I've never had a bad meal there (but have had some slow service). This is a true Chicago institution with three locations in Orlando. Great food, plan on taking your time as the stuffed pizza's are huge and take 35+ minutes to cook. Well worth the wait as they are incredible. Pasta dishes are good, thin pizza's also very good - when I'm in Orlando I could eat at Giordano's every night and be very happy.

They are a genuine member of the great chain from Chicago. Don't miss it!

We like Smokey Bones, a little bit of a drive, but not enough to deter us. The chain has not made its way to Colorado yet, and we truly enjoy the food and atmosphere, and we love the bargain deals with our "Bones" card. We have belonged to the club for years now and get coupons by email, and it's a place we would go anyway, but with $10 off, when our meals cost $11.99 (pulled pork platter is my favorite), it's a deal, and it's delicious.

We love Twistee Treat for ice cream, and there is one in front of Winn Dixie on one of the main drags down from Downtown Disney. The soft serve is exceptional, and Dairy Queen doesn't compare.

Our daughter loves Bahama Breeze, and it's good. You can get gift cards at Kroger/King Soopers right now for the chain of restaurants that include Bahama Breeze and get 4X fuel points. It's a bargain.

Fuddruckers is a great hamburger chain, and they are also on the highway close to Downtown Disney.

I am gluten free, so I cannot eat Italian, but I would definitely do Giordano's again, if I could. Don't know if they have gluten-free options.

We always enjoy Red Lobster, so we aren't terribly picky. Bonefish Grill is good, too. I also like Outback, and we always have gift cards for both of those restaurants. When we go with my stepdad, he loves Olive Garden, so we go there, and he also loves Panda Express. I am not a fan of either.

There are gift cards for 4X fuel points at Kings Soopers right now. So $250 in gift card purchases is $1.00 off gas, and we fill both of our tanks for the 35 gallon maximum allowed. ;)

For Disney restaurants, we love Biergarten at lunch. The price is very reasonable and is AYCE, including soft drinks and dessert. There is also a show. So for $20 per adult, you can take a load off and enjoy a great meal at Epcot. It's easy to get reservations for Biergarten. I really enjoy german food, and the cheesecake is to die for. I cannot eat it anymore, though. :bawl:

good choice Matt...

Bonefish Grill is consistently outstanding, no matter where it is.
Huge menu, great entrees, very reasonable prices, and the atmosphere is great.

Both Season's 52 (owned by Darden but not like its other lower level restos) and Bonefish Grill (owned by Outback group) are good consistent restaurants. Season's 52 concept was developed by the original chef at the California Grill at Disney and the Orlando location was their first, and best, IMO. It is focused on reasonable portions and stays under 530 calories per item.

I love Primo, if you really want to splurge. It is in the JW Marriott which is quite close by. It is a chef driven restaurant with a local focus. Excellent.
