We will be staying at Mountainside, our home resort, in Park City the week of March 11 - 18 and would be interested in any restaurant recommendations in the area. We are interested primarily (though not exclusively) in "kid friendly" places, as we have a 4 year old, a 7 year old and a 10 year old. We will also be meeting up with friends one or two nights and will have a large party (11 - 5 adults and 6 children), so would also be interested in places that would work well for a large group. And maybe also a few "nicer" places in the event that mom and dad are able to arrange babysitting for an evening or two. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Park City restaurants

We have so many favorites there in Park City that it's hard to narrow it down, but I'll give a few "can't miss" type places where you won't go wrong. First, for a larger group, there's an "everybody's favorite" place called Grub Steak Restaurant near Prospector's Square (that's the name of the bus route you'll take to get there----the front of the bus will have the name printed at the top, saying Prospector's Sq., and you take that one....all buses depart from right in front of Maontainside---the let-out will be right in front of GSR.)

There is a great Mexican place there in the village at Mountainside called Baja Cantina, and everyone will like that...very good! In town, you'll fine our two very favorites: ******(1) Zoom (located right next to Marriott Summit Watch, and on main St.---it's owned by Robert Redford and it's absolutely awesome..lunch or dinner..fantastic food----that's more of a fine-dining place, but everything in Park city is very casual dress code...Zoom's menu is slightly more for adults, tho. THAT'S where you'll want to sneak away to.) ******(2) Another favorite is Cisero's...and Italian restaurant on the uphill part of Main Street..easily walkable from Summit Watch, or take the bus and get off at nearest stop (ask bus driver). Take the "Main Street" line, tho, to get there. Cisero's can accommodate a large group and kids will have something on the menu, too.

One more "family fine-dining place": Can't remember the name, but I know where it is....it's in the village at Summit Watch, down at the end farthest from the indoor pool...near the ski lift (I think right outside it) It overlooks Main Street.......Looking at the Park City guide, it appears to be "350 Main Brasserie", but that may not be the right name (????), but it sounds familiar...anyway, it's another GREAT place. Just remember, it's the nice restaurant at the end of the row!!! We took our kids there and they were fine...it can handle a large group, too, but you'll need reservations. Make reservations at EACH and EVERY place, if they accept them!!!! sometimes it may be a wait if you don't. Have fun...Park City is full of fantastic restaurants...that's why we love it....we have been going for about 7 straight years and we don't own there---just traded....(we've stayed at Summit Watch and Mountainside several times each). jme

Thanks so much, that will be extremely helpful, I appreciate the suggestions. Several of those were already on my list but you've given me a few additonal ideas, as well.

I'll second the nod for Baja Cantina. Great Mexican food (this from a San Diegan!) and tasty margaritas. No trip to Park City would be complete for us without a visit. We also own at MountainSide and took home leftovers to eat the next night. Can't beat it for convenience. We've tried the other Mexican restaurants in town and this one has everyone beat by a long shot.

We also heard lots of recommendations for Zoom but didn't get a chance to eat there during our stay a couple of weeks ago.

A great kid-friendly restaurant is the Main Street Pizza and Noodle Co., on Main Street, across the street from the Transit Center. This place has great pizza and can seat any size party you have with some long family-style tables. You may see negative reviews of this place, but we've been several times and taken other people and no one has ever been disappointed.

Another of our favorites is Bandit's Grill and Bar with great tri-tip (their specialty), ribs, BBQ, burgers and sandwiches.

If you and/or the kids want to try buffalo burgers, you'll find them at No Name Saloon. I don't know whether I'd exactly describe it as kid-friendly, but you might give it a shot and see what you think.

We love Cisero's, hit it every winter with our kids while my Dad is in PC. It's near the "top" of Main Street.

My favorite restaurant in Park City is Adolph's. It has a German/Swiss menu and a European atmosphere. More of an adult's night out than a family place...but you could take the kids. Excellent food. For more info:

Another place I really like is Riverhorse on the Green in the Hotel Park City. Gorgeous view of the mountains, very good food and service, luxury rustic decor. Definitely in the fine dining category. For more info:

Finally, a good family choice in the heart of Historic Main Street is the Hungry Moose. This restaurant is not fancy, but I have always enjoyed it. Good for kids, and very reasonable prices. For more info:

Have fun in Park City! There's plenty of new snow.

There are so many wonderful plades to eat in Park City!! Strike out on your own and let us know what your think!!!

Wow, so many great suggestions - thanks everyone - too bad we'll only be there for a week! We spent last President's day weekend in Park City, just for three nights, and it was our first time there. The abundance of restaurants was just one of many factors that sold us on the area. We stopped in to one or two just randomly then and everything was terrific, but its nice to have a bit of a plan for our first full week stay. Thanks again.

For more authentic and much cheaper Mexican food go to El Chubasco on Bonanza drive. A small local dive type of place- can eat in or take out. Also for a pizza dive and a place the kids would like going to alone there is Davanzas near the town lift.
Zoom is open again after remodeling and is a great higher end restaurant- we have gone there with a party of 12. One of our favorite, but very expensive restaurants in town is Wahsoo- Asian Fusion
When you get into town pick up one of the restaurant guides as it will have menus and prices form many of the restaurants.
Ciseros, Bandits, and Main Street Pasta and Noodle and all great family suggetions on Main Street. During prime hours you may have trouble getting a big enough table at Main Street Pasta and Noodle for your entire group. When we have gone witha big group we have split up.

I will miss you by a day- I am leaving town MArch 11. I own at Summit Watch and also own a condo in Park City.

Any other questions don't hesitate to ask. Also if you are driving from the airport you can buy discount lift tickets at ski shops in town and save a lot of money for a large group.

forgot about River Horse

I forgot about River Horse, but that , along with Zoom, are THE two best places in all of Park City to eat. (I've also heard that Grappa is a fantastic "can't miss" fine dining experience for adults, but we've never made it...we, too, ran out of time....but that would be the third in the "best" category...all equal.) But we never miss Zoom, River Horse, Cisero's, Baja Cantina, Grub Steak, and "that ONE place at the end of the village at Summit Watch"...anyway, wanted to get in my high rating for River Horse...it's absolutely awesome. Very quiet and peaceful, & located upstairs overlooking Main Street...quite beautiful! (near Cisero's, but not as far up hill as Cisero's). Enjoy! I'm jealous! jme

Last time in Park City, we drove into Salt Lake City for lunch at a Mexican Restaurant which actually had Cliff Divers. Does anyone know the name and location and if it still exists. I think it was in a complex with a movie theatre a bit south of the city. Our grandson was quite impressed.

It's call "The Mayan", and it is located in the Salt Lake City suburb of Sandy.

The food is not the best Mexican cuisine I have ever tasted, but the divers are great. It's a fun place, and kids love it.

Thanks, we'll have to add some of those to our list.

Was that enough snow for you?!

We were at the Westgate Canyons from Feb 23-March 1 and it was the BEST ski conditions I have ever seen....fresh powder runs all day long (leg burns also) and boot deep powder for me. My 8yo was in waist deep powder on may runs!

I've been getting Power Alerts all week and been amazed at the amount of snow PC is getting this week. I though that we lucked out the week of 2/10-17 as we got just over 30" of snow that week, but this week sounds epic! If I had gotten the week that I originally wanted, we'd be leaving today instead!

I can't wait to get there on the 11th!

Only thing I can think of that remotely compares to what Bill describes is flying a hull in 20 + knots of wind (for any of my fellow cat sailors out there)!

More snow today!!!
And it's light fluffy powder!
Should be great skiing conditions in the coming week!
Have fun!

Yup, I understand completely! Had a couple of Hobie Cats in a previous life. Now I get my sailing kicks racing on a Beneteau First 47.7. 15-20 knots in that is a real thrill!

Figured there'd be at least one of you out there - seems to be a fair amount of overlap between skiiers and sailors - I have always felt that the sports complement each other very well, from a seasonal standpoint, and otherwise. No 47.7's for me though - the smaller the better - looking to acquire an A-cat at some point over the next few years - though not sure I could survive 20+ on that, unlike on my hobie wave, which can take just about anything!

I'm flying in tomorrow for some skiing starting Sunday
I got an e-mail from PCMR this afternoon indicating that they've gotten FOUR FEET of snow in the last week! Powder heaven! I'm so envious!
