I have several $10.00 certificates for Restaurant.com that I received when I purchased other certificates for a particular restaurant. How does it work to redeem them? After I choose a restaurant to dine at, am I getting a $25.00 certificate for free if I use the $10.00 one that I have in my account? Also, what if I use if for a restaurant certificate that is $3.00. Do I get $7.00 credit, or does it automatically take the entire certificate?

I received a $10 one for a referral. The way it worked is that the $10 certificate is just that, a $10 dining certificate . . . and not $10 towards the purchase of another (say $25) certificate. You should have a voucher number or something like that, for the $10 freebie. When you order a $10 gift certificate they will ask you for that voucher number (or wahtever they call it). That will credit at checkout and you will owe nothing.

Therefore, regarding your question about a certificate with a purchase price of $3 and getting a credit for the remaining $7, is not applicable. What you will be getting is a $10 dining certificate . . . hope that is clear (or clearer than mud).

If you have any questions, they have a toll free number. I'd suggest you call them to ask about how to redeem and use the $10 vouchers you have.

So what you are saying is I would get a $10.00 voucher (or Coupon), to use toward my purchase at that restaurant?

That has been my experience, yes.

Yes. Read the certificate carefully before you visit the restaurant. Most have limitations such as minimum purchase. Some exclude certain days of the week. Most are only one per month. They expire in a year. Since you purchase it as a certificate I am not sure if they expire in California. If you are unfamiliar with the restaurant I would sugguest that you don't get more than one until you visit the restaurant and see if you want to go back.

They're a great deal. Enjoy!

recent bad experience with certificate

We tried to use a certificate 2 weeks ago that we bought about six months ago. It was still valid and we met the conditions, but the restaurant said they were no longer accepting the certs. Thus we lost the $25 at that restaurant, and we would never have gone there without the discount.

After writing the customer service, Resataurant.com has given us another $25 coupon to use at any restaurant, but we feel burnt and are leery of using them anymore. There should be some legal obligation for establishments to accept the certificate if they use the service. Also, giving us another certificate is telling us to spend more to get the discount. There is something ethically wrong here.

I have had this happen more than once, the restaurant no longer wanting to belong to the programme.

Now I just call and ask.

Just my pratical response to the problem, not to say problems should be dealt better with by restaurant.com.

In actuality I find little use locally and am wondering when I will get to use the certificates purchased.

Basham,

Good practical advice--we will be calling ahead in the future!

I always show them I will be using the certificate when I order. I assume this would cover it also.

That is what we do as well.
